Instructional Plan in Science — Grade 7

Name of Teacher MARIA JESUSA C. DESPOJO Grade/Year Level 7
Learning Area: SCIENCE Quarter: SECOND Module No.: 5
Competency: Describe the different ecological relationships found in the ecosystem.
Lesson No. 1 Ecological Relationships Duration 1 hour
Learning Knowledge Describe the different ecological relationships in the ecosystem.
Objectives Skills Create a pair from the given set of organisms to form an ecological relationship.
Attitudes Propose ways by which ecological balance is attained despite the harm caused by other
organisms in a relationship.

Needed LMs, Unit 2, Module 5, pp. 7-11

B. Materials:
Names/pictures of organisms, double-sided tape, manila paper, pentel pens, masking tape, pair
of scissors, crayons, cartolina
Elements of the Plan Methodology

other relationships do you know of?
- How do I

competition?
2. Do alt organisms in the relationship benefit from
each other?
3. Can the relationship occur between living and non-
living

organisms? Defend your answer.

4. How can we minimize the harmful effect of some relationships
in the ecosystem?
Abstraction There are different relationships existing in the ecosystem.
These are mutualism, commensalism, parasitism, predation and
competition.
In mutualism, both organisms are benefited from each other.
When one organism benefits while the other does not, the
relationship is commensalism.
When an organism benefits while the other is harmed but not
die, the relationship is parasitism.
The relationship is predation when one benefits and the other
dies.
in competition, both organisms will fight, and the bigger and much
stronger of the pair benefits the most.
Practice Application Design a poster of an ecosystem illustrating the 5 different

exercises/application discussion.
activities will I give to Explain briefly what happens to each one in the relationship and
the learners? identify the type of ecological relationship existing between the
pair of organisms.
How is ecological balance achieved, despite the harm caused by
other organisms in a relationship? Explain.
