Dear Sir/madam,
I am writing to express my interest for the position of Librarian (Ref. No: EA19/12) for the
Reserve Bank of Fiji.
I am applying for this position because I firmly believe that a combination of my natural ability,
personality and work experience makes me an ideal candidate for this role. I possess a strong
understanding of I.T. equipment, and the day-to-day running of the library with excellent
customer service skills
In my current position of library assistant being stationed at the main issue desk I get to
effectively communicate with diverse users and customers that seek information queries and
services from the library. I have at times being appreciated for my friendly demeanour, patience
and professional etiquette with all patrons. I am passionate about staying up to date with the
latest library best practices.
I have completed my Diploma in Library/Information Studies and consistently believe in taking
challenges and exploring new concepts to improve library efficiency. Having completed my
Bachelor’s degree in management, I have had to supervise part –time staff in terms of work
flow efficiency and circulation desk duties in the absence of the senior library assistant and
coordinated with IT staff for laptop repairs and network issues. With the assistance of the SLA,
to write up library notices for user privileges e.g. laptop loan usage requirements. Recently, I
have secured a position in the Masters in Information Studies that will enable me to develop
my professional skills and maximise my potential. The programme will provide with
specialised knowledge and a deep understanding of research and analysis – expertise that will
allow me to innovate and lead in the workplace and drive my career forward. Furthermore, to
help plan, organise and lead information management in large and small organisations such as
the Reserve Bank of Fiji and delivering support and programs by using the latest technologies
to create, share and use information. I plan to resume the studies for this programme next year
as I try to secure financial support.
I foresee the role of the Librarian in actively contributing to the organization’s forward vision
of working critically with information and having an active collaboration with the staff and
users to disseminate timely and quality information.
I believe my experience, communication skills and interpersonal abilities would make me a
strong fit for this position. I look forward for an interview to discuss further. My resume is
