Doumanian returned to KCC as head coach in 2017 after previously coaching the BRUINS for seven seasons. From 00-
07, he led the team to a 120-82 overall record, winning the MCCAA league title twice. The Bruins’ sixth-place finish in
the nation during the 2004-05 season under Doumanian’s leadership is still the most successful women’s basketball
campaign in KCC history. Doumanian also received MCCAA Coach of the Year honors twice while at KCC.
Doumanian earned an undergraduate degree in journalism from MSU and a master’s degree in elementary education
from Clarion University. He also coached women’s basketball at Defiance College in Ohio for four years, leading his
team two appearances in the conference tournament.

YOLANDRA JONES — ASSISTANT COACH

Jones returns for her 2nd year as an assistant coach. A Battle Creek Central grad, she started her collegiate basketball
career at KCC before transferring to Kentucky State University. She coached the freshmen team at BC Central from
1997-2000 before joining the US Army and playing basketball for the Mannheim Lady Mustangs, winning the USAREUR
Championship. After her Army carrer, including one tour in Iraq with the 4th Infantry Division, she returned home to
Battle Creek. Coach Jones graduated from KCC with an Associate’s Degree and from Spring Arbor with a BA in Family
Life Education and a MA in Counseling Education in 2010.

RAY MILLER — ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Miller has over 30 years of coaching experience at various levels in the Kalamazoo, Parchment, and Battle Creek

BRUIN is another word for bear. At KCC,
the BRUIN is also our official mascot.

WHY? A BRUIN is powerful and determined. A BRUIN

is curious and imaginative. A BRUIN makes noble
decisions and shows empathy to others. A BRUIN is
a fearless explorer who laughs at adversity. A BRUIN
is a warrior who never stops challenging. A BRUIN
protects others from harm. A BRUIN is trustworthy
and intelligent. A BRUIN has a playful sense of humor.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE BRUIN? Not everyone

is born BRUIN but anyone can call forth their inner
BRUIN and resolve to Be BRUIN every day. Being
BRUIN is more than a state of mind. It’s a way of life.
It’s a path to a brighter future.

What are you today?

And what will you be tomorrow?

Be Bold. Be You. Be BRUIN.
