Types of Bonding Video

Objectives: 3-6c, 3-10c

Choose a pair of atoms from the bag. You will need two strips. You will make a video to identify the type of
bond your two elements will form and model the formation of the bond. You may use whatever materials
you need for your video, as long as you meet the criteria on the rubric below.

Your video should be 1 minute or less!

In your video you need to do the following:

1. Everyone needs to say their name
2. Types of elements involved
a. Does your bond involve metals, nonmetals, and/or metalloids?
3. Type of bonding
a. Identify the type of bonding that your bond is an example of (ionic or covalent).
b. Explain how you know what type of bond yours is
4. Model how your bond would form
a. Start with a model of the separate atoms
b. Go step by step through modeling the formation of the bond, explaining how the electrons
are moving and how they are involved
c. Show a model of the formed bond
5. Upload the video as an attachment to the assignment on Schoology.
