Anaphylactic Shock:

is caused by a severe allergic reactions when patients who have already produced antibodies to a
foreign substance (antigen) develop a systemic antigen-antibody reactions;

- Immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated response. This antigen-antibody reaction provokes mast cells
tp release potent vasoactive substances, such as histamine or bradykinin and activates
inflammatory cytokines causing widespread vasodilation and capillary permeability.
The most common triggers are food (Peanuts), medications and insects

Good to know! Anaphylaxis has three defining characteristics

1. Acute onset of symptoms

2. Presence of two or more symptoms that include respiratory compromise from minutes to hours
after exposure to the antigen
