My Vietnamese name is Kalisha Nguyen. I enrolled Vietnam National University –
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Fall 2015 and attained my Bachelor of Industrial Management in November 2019. I chose this school because of its high reputation in Vietnam and worldwide. In 2019, my university ranks at the top 701-750 leading universities in the world based on QS World University Rankings, and of course, ranks 1st in Vietnam. Throughout the studying period here, I had been leading several charity projects, with the purpose to assist homeless children and elders. I found it really meaningful to contribute our effort to our community. That is why by the time when I took the Internship class, I joined an NGO - Malaysia Business Chamber as an Admin and Event Intern then later became an Admin and Event Coordinator there, where I started to learn about Vietnamese market and industry and got to know many politicians and wonderful businessman from MBC, from Embassy and from other chambers and embassy as well, how businessman connect to each other, how the International Trade between other nations and Vietnam occur, how to arrange a proper visit of crucial figures from other nations when they come to Vietnam. During 2018 – 2019 period, I took part in tons of business events, networking nights and luncheons, golf tournaments such as China – US Trade Ward business talk collaborating with Standard Chartered, Malaysian Minister Visit to FPT Vietnam, and so on,… After these events, I noticed the most pivotal part of being the leader is networking skill, which I also find it as the toughest skill. With nearly two working years, I know how to listen to the customers’ needs, and how to handle problems and how to maintain relationships in the international aspects. Working in the multi-cultural organization taught me that different people, especially from different countries have different needs, and different reactions towards the same situation as each country has its own practices and traditions. Under such environment, I am more open-minded when it comes to unfamiliar cultural practices. For example, it is a must to order Halal food for Muslim customers. During April 2019, NFU representatives came to our campus to recruit students, however, the ranking of NFU is too many behind my university, at first, I did not want to really enroll in, but after several discussions with an alumni here, I decided to turn in my application and currently, I nearly finished my first semester here. The first unbiased reason must be a chance to immerse myself in Madarin- speaking culture, because Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City – where my career will be gone further, welcomes many Chinese companies from China and Taiwan, indeed if I excel at both English and Chinese, language definitely becomes my privilege over others. However, I chosen Finance to go further in my Master Degree as I want to have a more deeper Financial view about the market to support my Management skills I gained from Bachelor one to answer more particular questions such as how equity index returns and exchange rate relates and so on.
