ESSAY DRAFT TEMPLATE

An essay draft should contain:

1) Introduction paragraph:
• Hook
• Transitional sentences (do not need to be written in the draft)
• Thesis statement: (please highlight with different colour which
one is a topic, which one is claim, which ones are major points.)

2) Body Paragraph 1, 2 and 3:

• Topic sentence
o Supporting sentence 1:
 sub-supporting sentence 1
 sub-supporting sentence 2 (if any)
 sub-supporting sentence 3 (if any)

o Supporting sentence 2: (if any)

 sub-supporting sentence 1
 sub-supporting sentence 2 (if any)
 sub-supporting sentence 3 (if any)

o Supporting sentence 3: (if any)

 sub-supporting sentence 1
 sub-supporting sentence 2 (if any)
 sub-supporting sentence 3 (if any)

• concluding statement

3) Concluding paragraph
• Restatement (From thesis statement)
• Summary/Concluding statement (From Body Paragraph)
• Final thought (the “WOW” thing from your essay)
