Warm up (5m)
- Eliciting from Ss what techniques can be used to start and end a story..
Procedure:
Listening (20m)
- Ss listen to a story, look at pictures and try to put them in the correct order.
- They listen to the recording and check their answers.
- Finally they look at the pictures and retell the story using the words/ phrases
in the list.
Reading (20m)
- Ss read the rubric of the writing question and underline key words.
- In groups Ss make a basic plan for their story.
- In pairs they answer the comprehension of the story.

Explaining some writing techniques (15m)
- Revising the four past tenses by giving examples and eliciting form and use.
- Ss write their own sentences or a paragraph using the four tenses.

Practice
(a) (10m)

- Ss read the story on p.61 and underline the correct tenses. Then they label the
paragraphs.
- Ss read the story again and number the events
- Finally they fill in the correct adjectives, then make sentences using the
completed collocations.
(b) (15m)
- Ss read the rubric and match them to the plot lines. They suggest alternative
plot lines
- Ss read the rubric and the plot line, then put the events in the order they
happened.
- Finally volunteers make tell the story as if it had happened to them
Homework:
Ss finish exercises 5, 6 and 7 in their books
