PROJECT PLAN

INTRODUCTION

An autotransformer (sometimes called autostep down transformer)[1] is an


electrical transformer with only one winding. The "auto" prefix refers to the single coil acting on
itself and not to any kind of automatic mechanism. In an autotransformer, portions of the same
winding act as both the primary and secondary sides of the transformer. In contrast, an ordinary
transformer has separate primary and secondary windings which are not electrically connected.

The winding has at least three taps where electrical connections are made. Since part of the
winding does "double duty", autotransformers have the advantages of often being smaller, lighter,
and cheaper than typical dual-winding transformers, but the disadvantage of not
providing electrical isolation between primary and secondary circuits. Other advantages of
autotransformers include lower leakage reactance, lower losses, lower excitation current, and
increased VA rating for a given size and mass.[2]

Autotransformers are often used to step up or step down voltages in the 110-115-120 V range
and voltages in the 220-230-240 V range - for example, providing 110 V or 120 V (with taps) from
230 V input, allowing equipment designed for 100 or 120 V to be used with a 230 V supply. This
allows US electrical equipment to be fed from the higher European voltage. Autotransformers can
also be used to supply European 230 V appliances from a 100 or 120 V supply in countries
outside Europe. In all cases the supply and the autotransformer must be correctly rated to supply
the required power.

sources in the each and every State.

In this document, OHMEGA ELECTRIC CO proposes to take over the existing


running business to develop & Manufacture the electrical projects and selling
of AUTO TANSFORMERS (VARIAC) with state-of-the-art technology with proven
efficiency, coupled with equipment/project as well as Warranties and
Performance Guarantees comparable with best in the Industry. The Revenue
model is built on assumptions of sale of AUTO TRANSFORMERS.

Dry Type Type Transformers of 100Kva 11/433kv Reduced the weight and cost
of the Transformers effectively with the improved efficiency which is also
been tested and certified by CPRI, BAngalore
Also Grabbed the Opportunity From M/s.Neelkanth Power Solutions, Mumbai
for manufacturing their Servo Stabilisers on OEM Model.

Infrastructure :

The company has a Place at Chennai to manufacture Variacs approx 2500Sf.ft at


second floor of the building and HT transformer coils using aluminum foil to
cater to a demand of Rs 50 to 75 Lakhs turnover. The following machines are
commissioned in the unit

Current status of the Project:


The company has established reasonable market presence with corporate
Stabilizers Manufacturers like Consul Neowatt Pvt Ltd, Unity Controls,
Neelkanth Power, Xtaton Resources, Vertex Power Solutions few Middle
East companies. It can generate, initially Rs 25 to 40 Lakhs worth of orders
for Variacs every month from the Third month of the operation.
Company has designed, developed and marketed Variacs of various types
and has reasonable capability of manufacturing Variacs of various ratings.
There is a huge demand for the product. Infrastructure for continuous
assembly is needed to manufacture Variacs in mass volume production.
Also it is important to note that this market operates at 30 - 60 days credit
which requires working capital requirements .
