TRAIN Law: Fab or Fail "The Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act,
officially cited as Republic Act No. 10963, is the initial package of the Comprehensive
Tax Reform Program (CTRP) signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on
December 19, 2017.TRAIN consists of revisions to the National Internal Revenue
Code of 1997, or the Tax Code. This reform includes packages that make changes in
taxation concerning the personal income tax (PIT), estate tax, donor's tax, value
added tax (VAT), documentary stamp tax (DST) and the excise tax of petroleum
products, automobiles, sweetened beverages, cosmetic procedures, coal, mining and
tobacco." Now lets get down to business, does TRAIN LAW helps us or just burdens
us? Based on the state Philippines had gone through, i can say that TRAIN Law is just
a burden that we shoulder. Consumers, specially mothers suffer the consequences of
TRAIN Law. It is true that the tax had been much more smaller but we really felt the
burden when excise tax was added in beverages and other products. Employees do
take home a much larger salary but it was all for nothing. What is the use of a much
larger salary if the price of the daily goods richocet and BAAM!!! A kilo of rice costs
more than 50 pesos. The consumers cry out that the Train Law must be suspended
or much better: abolished... TRAIN LAW had done a lot of damage to our economy
and the inflation rate rides up rapidly. The Train Law made a huge impact in the
society specially on the mothers. Mothers are the one who budgets the family's daily
expenses and what more if the family comes from a low income family? You cannot
tell your child: "Anak, wag ka munang kakain ha?" The Train Law holds a promise
that we will take home a much larger salary with tax gone. But putting excise tax on
our daily needs is simply absurd. What is the use of having a larger salary with large
prices of our daily needs. And for my final verdict: TRAIN LAW is a FAIL.
