Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) was among the first self-financed engineering colleges in the country. Started
in 1957, as Manipal Engineering College (MEC), primarily with an undergraduate course in Civil Engineering, MIT
today currently offers graduate programs (BTech) in 16 disciplines, postgraduate courses (MTech & MCA) in 26
different streams and Doctoral (PhD) programs in all streams of engineering.

The Bachelor Of Technology (BTech) curriculum is highly flexible, with students having the option to choose from a
wide range of elective courses and open electives. Minor specialization will be decided based on the electives
chosen by each student. Manipal Institute of Technology aims to ensure a seamless learning experience for
students, providing Students Life Cycle Management (SLCM) that enables easy online access to academic
information for all stakeholders. The first-year course materials have even been made available on the internet. The
institute undertakes sponsored research programmes supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE and
the Ministry of Environmental Sciences. It has collaborative research programs in association with premier research
laboratories and institutes in India and abroad.

courses focus on all round growth while exploring the latest developments in science and technology. With state-

BTECH PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
 Duration: 8 semesters
 Total Credits required for the award of degree: 170 credits
 Semester I and II: Common for all branches
 Availability of First year lectures recordings
 Optional change of branch in III semester against vacancies based on the first year academic performance
 Open Electives during IV – VII semester, subjects from across the university
 Only Electives are there in VII Semester, facilitating semester aboard opportunity
 VIII semester fully dedicated to for full-time Project Work / Internship in department / industry
 Live project experience through Practice school caters student mobility
