are laid in the same course.
• The Facing and Backing are of same appearance.

SINGLE FLEMISH BOND

• It is a type of Flemish Bond where the


Facing is Flemish Bond and Backing is in English Bond in
each course.
• It has the advantages of both the type of Bonds.

Disadvantages:

• The min. thickness for this kind of wall is 1 ½ brick.


• There are presence of continuous vertical joints.
• Skilled labour and careful supervision required.

It can be both in English and Flemish Bond.


ENGLISH GARDEN WALL BOND

• It comprises of 1course
of HEADERS to every 3
courses of
STRETCHERS.
• A queen closer is laid
next to the quoin
header in the header
course.
• Middle course of
stretcher starts with a
header.
SCOTTISH BOND

• It comprises of
1course of HEADERS
to every 5 courses of
STRETCHERS.

• Similar to English
Garden Wall.
ENGLISH CROSS BOND

• It comprises of
alternate courses of
headers and stretchers.
• More aesthetic and
stronger.
• Every alt. stretcher
course has a header
next to the quoin
stretcher.

DUTCH BOND

• Similar to English bond.


• ¾ th. Bat is used as
quoin in the stretcher
course.
• This strengthens the
corners.
• Every alternate
stretcher course has a
header next to the brick
bat.
GARDEN WALL FLEMISH BOND

• Each course has one header to 3-5 stretchers.


• ¾ th. Brick bat is placed next to Quoin Header in every alt. course.
• A header is laid over each central stretcher in the lower course.
HERRING BONE BOND

• Bricks are laid at an angle of 45 deg. From the central


line in both the directions.
• Used for very thick walls and for paving.

DIAGONAL BOND

• At every 5-7 course along the ht. of wall bricks are laid.
• Internally the bricks are laid in one direction only.
ZIG ZAG BOND

• Similar to Herring Bone bond.


• Bricks are laid in a Zig-Zag way.
• Useful for Brick floor Paving.
