NARRATOR:

Frequently zeus would take it upon himself to journey through tye mortal world,
rewarding the kind and punishing the evil.
Then one day on zeus's particular trip he took his clever son hermes.
ZEUS:
Hermes today you will accompany me to the mortal world. But both of us will be
disguised as penniless travelers.
HERMES:
Yes father I understand.
NARRATOR:
Then the two of them started to prepare themselves for the upcoming journey.
ZEUS HERMES : NAG LAKAW2
NARRATOR:
Then the first country that they journeyed through was very inhospitable.
The two suddenly started to knock on the dorrs to ask for food and shelter
ZEUS HERMES: NANGATOK SA MGA PULTAHAN
NARRATOR:BUT THEY WERE DENIED
Then there was one household that welcomed them and showed hospitality.
PHILEMON an elderly country farmer AND BAUCIS his wife, GI SUGAT ANG DUHA.
THEN they let the disguised Gods sit in their homes.
BAUCIS:
Okay I'm gonna fetch the goose for dinner.
PHILEMON: NI TANDO
NARRATOR:
But when baucis went to fetch the goose she couldn't cath it.Because no matter how
fast she was it was always quicker.
Then after a while she returned inside exhausted.
PHILEMON:
Where is the goose?
BAUCIS: ignored philemon and asked for a drink
NARRATOR:
After baucis finished drinking philemon was surprised when the pitcher they had
just emptied was completely full.
BAUCIS AND PHILEMON: WHISPERED TO EACH OTHER.
PHILEMON:
(there could only be one explanation for these things. they must be Gods)whisper
NARRATOR:
Then Baucis and Philemon asked the disguised Gods.
And Zeus and Hermes happily admitted this and thanked the two for their generosity
Zeus and Hermes: ni hatag og pasalamat sa ilanhang duha.
NARRATOR:
Then there was a flash of light, and the couples humble dwelling was transformed
into a magnificent temple.
All the surrounding lands including there neighbors houses was covered in water.
Zeus:
Baucis and Philemon may I ask you two to serve in this temple for the rest of your
days. And in return I would grant you both one request.
Baucis and Philemon: Ni tando
BAUCIS AND PHILEMON:
Then our request would be that the two of us will not part from each other.
Philemon:
And also if we die we will both die at the same time.
Zeus: Ni sogot sa ilang gi request
ZEUS AND HERMES: Ni biya na padung na sila balik sa ilang pag travel.
NARRATOR:
After the two GOD'S left and gave them a magnifecent temple to serve for rest the
of their lives.
Then the time had finally come for Baucis and Philemon to die.
BAUCIS AND PHILEMON: NAMATAY SILA DUHA OG DUNGAN
(Naa silay final words)
NARRATOR:
As their souls slipped down into the underworld, their bodies began to change form.
turning into two trees that grew from a single stump.
