MARSIC300 SERVICE TRAINING
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The MARSIC300 is a new developed measuring devices to

measure emissions aboard of ships according to MARPOL Annex VI and
MEPC.184(59)
Especially designed for maritime applications with a high level of availability
due to insensitivity against vibrations, fluctuation of power, etc.
High measurement performance and accuracy with proven technology ensure
today compliance with lower limits in the future
Up to two measurement points can be measured with only one analyzer which means
less amount of invest compared to “in-situ” solutions (one analyzer each measurement point)
Up to nine components at the same time for all maritime applications :
SO2, CO2, NO, NO2,O2, CO, CH4, NH3, H20
Easy to maintain & servicing (only changing defined modules) by on-board engineer

MARSIC300

Advantages of gas sampling using an ejector

▸ Wear-free
― Low maintenance cost and requirements
▸ Gas sampling without any moving parts
― No pulsation
▸ Internal cell pressure remains constant
― Internal cell pressure is independent of atmospheric or process variations
― Hence no distortion of measuring results by varying pressure conditions
▸ Intelligent indirect flow control via pressure sensors
― No moving parts
― Low maintenance requirements
― Within the heated area
▸ High gas flow results in short response times

MEASUREMENT PRINCIPLE: GAS FILTER CORRELATION

Measurement Principle: Gas Filter Correlation

Example: Measuring of HCl
▸ Measuring at 1 optical wavelength
▸ Reference is a high concentration of this gas
stored in a gasfilter

Signal processing
▸ Absorbance = - log (Intensity Sample/Intensity
Referenz )
The gas filter overlays the HCl- Signal from sample HCl Spectrum
with a very high reference signal. The gas filter 100 %

correlation technique suppresses interferences,

90

because they will be measured on both signal 70

types (sample and reference signal).

MARSIC300
INTERNAL CALIBRATION

Advantage of certified calibration filters on MARSIC300:

The optical path during calibration is exact the complete light path during the "normal" measurement
mode. Aging effects of all optical components are taken into account and are corrected accordingly
Checking with calibration gas only necessary after optical parts have been replaced!
No hazzle with expired calibration gas bottles (usually expired after 12months)
No costs for calibration gas (10l bottle of calibration gas (CO2/SO2) costs around 600€)
The operator of the vessel is always in the position to show compliance with the applied regulations
against flag state, class or PSC (port state control) without additional measures
The MARSIC300 is the only device with this feature available on the market!

11.05.2017 MARSIC 300 | Customer Training 21

MARSIC300
FLOW CONTROL

Operating pressure in cuvette is regulated to 750 mbar and operates up to sample pressure of 1150 mbar abs.
Flow at 1015 mbar ambient pressure is 290 l/h
