Your level of results are directly tied to the level of your competence.

If you know the exact pathway of

effectiveness in every possible situation, you can execute that pathway and be effective. That is when
you see a master and go like, woaah, he has all the answers.
Now, that’s key.

How do you become really skilled, fast?

Every skill is a set of functions you are supposed to perform. Any competence in life is reflected in the
level of physical mastery. If you just learn something and don’t apply it, you just wasted your time.

You start with the first function.

Apply the following process:
Learn  Design of Application  Conditioning (Physical Mastery; Repetition)  Testing
A design of Application is essentially ‘When are you going to apply it?’ Conditioning at the points of
Design of Application essentially makes triggers for your brain to react spontaneously to.
Once you have physically mastered the first function at the points laid out by the ‘Design of Application’,
you have really gotten yourself going.
Then you need to master the 2nd function similarly.
Then the third step is to integrate the two functions. It means creating a new ‘Design of Application’
which is a combination of the two functions and condition this new design. Two functions, once
integrated, become a singular function.
This way, you can move forward and master and integrate another function.

We begin to look crazy after integrating 4-5 functions. If you really want to be at an extraordinary
level, you need to integrate as many functions as you can. That’s all.

The minute you start guessing in a situation, is the minute you start to lose.
Don’t guess; Train apriori. If not trained, find out the principles then and there and handle it well.

Greatness is tied to the level of your mastery of the definite functions required during the performance.
Eg – During dancing, I need to stay on beat and pop if I am a popper. My angles shouldn’t be sloppy. My
movement should be clean. Now these are basic functions.
Some advanced functions may include concepts, levels, pop frequency, musicality, creativity etc.

Mastering a skill is essentially a never-ending path. You master the basic functions. You master more
advanced functions. You master further advanced functions. And on& on.

Your greatness in any skill is tied to the number and depth of the functions you have mastered in that
skill. You start to look crazy once you have mastered 4-5 functions and performing them simultaneously.

A treatise on mastering a function: When executing a function, you bump into what? Situations. You
need to create a pathway of maximization out of every situation you can possibly encounter. That
pathway needs to be discovered and then physically mastered. Again, I can’t over-emphasize the
importance of physical mastery, else it is a waste of time. This is where the concept of Situation-
Outcome Map comes into picture. You identify the problematic situations, you develop the right
outcomes and hence the appropriate solutions and behaviours and physically master them via
repetition.

Two keys now:

1. Mastery: Remember I said, ‘mastered’, not learned. It means physical mastery, not something
you know intellectually and perform sometimes. Greatness is tied to mastery. Mastery comes
from repetition. And repetition is a direct result of pigheaded discipline and determination.
2. Functions: If you master a function, you can run another system even if it has slightly different
controls. Eg – If I master how to drive a bike; I can ride another bike with slightly different
controls. If I master how to dance on 4 beats, I can dance on any song that has 4 beats – only the
music on the top of that has changed and I can manage that! If I master how to run a computer,
I can run a CT machine console, it won’t be that hard because the basic functions will be the
same (copy, paste, perform a scan, delete etc)

Once you have mastered the basic elements of a skill, the game becomes exciting. You can play around
with elements to see and create a new idea/insight. This is where you go from great to legendary.
