Experiment/Activity : 2.2
Aim : Investigating human check cells
Diagram :

Apparatus and Materials: Glass slide, cover slip, dropper,

microscope, mounting needle,
tissue paper ,clean toothpick, and
dilute iodine solution.

Method/Procedure:
1. A drop of dilute iodine solution was added to the centre of
a clean glass slide.

2. some cells from the inside of my cheek was scraped with

the blunt end of a clean tooth pick.
3. The scrapings were placed onto the drop of dilute iodine
solution on the slide. The toothpick was thrown into the
garbage bin.

4. A coverslip was placed over the scrapings. There were

no air bubbles were trapped under the coverslip. The
diluted iodine solution was spread out beneath the
coverslip.

5. The excess diluted iodine solution was wiped off with a

piece of tissue paper.

6. The check cells were examined under low magnification.

The objective lens was used to examined the check cells.

7. One check cells was drawn in my report. The cell

membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, and other structures of
check cells were labeled.
