Objectives:

In this lab our goal is to learn the Designing Power Divider at the given frequency. Secondly
we want to learn to generate the layout for fabrication and finally we will understand the
relationship between the microstrip line dimensions with the impedance
LAB TASKS:
Operating Frequency= 3.25 GHz.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAMS:
NOTE:
In the plot below S( 1,3) and S(1,2) overlap( have same plots). That is why S(1,2) is not visible.
Questions

1. What is the operating frequency of the Power Divider (with Ideal Transmission Lines part
A)as per S11 Plot?
3.25 GHz

2. What is the operating frequency of the Power Divider (with Physical Transmission Lines
part B) as per S11 Plot?
Approximately 3.25 GHz
3. What was the Isolation between the output port before and after Resistor (2Z0) was
connected at the output ports in all parts i.e. A, B?

The isolation increases between Port 2 and Port3 due to resistor as it is evident by
the S-parameters that is S23 and S32.

S23 (dB) S32 (dB)

Before Resistor (2Z0) -45 -45
After Resistor (2Z0) -85 -85
Conclusion:
It can be concluded that this lab has provided the students with great knowledge about
Wilkinson Power Divider. It teaches the students methods for designing a wilkinson power
divider with ideal microstrip lines as well as physical micro strip transmission line. The
experimental procedure in lab manual is very well explained with figures.

The graphical analysis which is performed by using ADS is accurate and closely related
to the results obtained theoretically. The lab had a moderate difficulty level. The tasks are
organized in such a manner that they are easier to perform and understand.
