COMPRESSOR
1. Equipment Technical Details:Transport Air Compressor is required for ASH conveying
system. Total we have 12 PTAC and 9 STAC.PTAC is used for conveying ASH from buffer
hopper D-pump to 6000T RCC Silos. STAC is used for conveying 6000T RCC Silos to
5000T RCC Silo. Instrument air compressor is used for the instrument operation. There are 3
instrument air compressors for ESP, Compressor Cum Pump House, and Bottom Ash areas
instruments operation and 2 instrument air compressors for silo area instrument operations.

3. Pre-checks and Action By Field Engineer:


 Ensure no PTW is pending for compressor.
 Ensure instrument air compressor is running (press >6kg/cm2)
 Ensure cooling water supply MIV for main line is charged.
 Ensure lubrication oil level is ok.
 Ensure inlet and outlet of cooling water line MIV are open condition.
 Ensure Air discharge line manual butterfly valve is open condition
 Check receiver tank manual drain has to be close and Auto drain is put in auto (if not
drain manually).

4. Operating Procedure:
 Release local push button switch of Compressor.
 Check Cooling water SOV has to be open.
 Check cooling water line pressure is 6kg/cm2.
 Start the selected Compressor.

 Check cooling water temperature (difference in inlet and out let is 5℃).
 Check the discharge pressure as to be ok (for IAC 6.69kg/cm2, TAC 2.3 to2.5 kg/cm2).
 Check the running parameters after start.
 For any abnormalities record logbook and inform shift in-charge/ operation in charge.
5. Shut down procedure:
 Stop the compressor from the PLC.
 Isolate the cooling water inlet valve..
6. POINTS TO BE CHECKED BY OPERATOR IN EVERY SHIFT
 EQUIPMENT CLEANING
 PHYSICALLY VIBRATION CHECKING
 PHYSICALLY TEMPRATURE CHECKING
 OIL LEVEL AND GREASE CHECKING
7. CHECKING OF SYSTEM AFTER SHUT DOWN
 PHYSICALLY CHECK BOTTOM ASH HOPPER AFTER OPENING THE MAN
HOLE DOOR AS LIKE FOREIGN MATERIAL AFTER THAT CHECK THE
ROTATION OF CLINKER GRINDER IN FORWARD AND REVERSE DIRECTION.
 CHECK THE OIL LEVEL FREENESS.
 PHYSICALLY ALL VALVE CHECKING MANUALLY OPERATION THROUGH
PLC AS WELL.
 FIRST ENSURE SLURRY AND ASH WATER SUMP CLEANING AND THEN FILL
THE SUMP.
 CHECK THE SEAL PRESSURE OF ALL DOME VALVE PHYSICALLY.
 CHECK THE LINE VACUUM AND SHUT OFF VACUUM OF ALL PASSES.
 CHECK FLUIDIZING BLOWER AIR OF INDIVIDUAL HOPPER.
 CHECK THE PURZING OF BUFFER HOPPER AND SILO BAG FILTER.
 IF ANY PROBLEM OBSERVED IN EQUIPMENT THEN INFORM TO SHIFT IN
CHARGE/ OPERATION IN CHARGE IMMEDIATLY
