PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES (PIA)

PIA was established as Oriented Airways on 29 October 1946 and was established and was
initially headquartered in Calcutta, British India, before shifting operations in 1947 to Pakistan’s
newly independent government.

PIA is Pakistan's largest airline and operates a fleet of more than 30 aircraft. The airline operates
about 100 flights a day, serving 18 domestic and 25 international destinations in Asia, Europe,
the Middle East and north America. There are 3 hubs of PIA Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
The headquarters of PIA is Islamabad international airports. The company slogan is (Great
people to fly with).

Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) is majority-owned by


the Government of Pakistan (87%) while the remainder (13%) by private shareholders. The
destination of PIA has operated 19 domestic and 24 international destinations in 16 countries in
Asia, Middle East, Europe and North America as a November 2019. With flights from
Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Jeddah, Medina and Dubai
are the airlines main focus city.

The services which PIA gives Cabin, Catering, PIA premier Service, in-flight magazines, in-
flight entertainment, in-flight internet, frequent flyer program, precision engineering
complex(PEC) and ground handling. There are also chartered and special services charter
service, Hajj and Umrah operations, state official’s transportations. There are three type of plane
the first is Triple seven (400 peoples carry) the second is 320 (150 to 170 people carry) and the
third is 80 yards there are two categories of people 40 and 70. There are also three type of
discounts on tickets the student discount 17% , Senior citizen 15% , Disable 40% and with
disable people there family member so it gives 20%.
INTRODUCTION:

Mr. Nausherwan adil he is the chief commercial officer of the PIA. He is the best his work and
also a good leader. He always took his team together. He achieved more from his life.

CAREER GROWTH:

Mr. Nausherwan adil done Aircraft engineering and trainee engineering since 1995 from PIA.
After that he comes in marketing department. 2009-2012 in three years he became the part of
Deputy General Manager Inventory management and operation. In 2012 he managed deputy
general manager Schedules and networking planning in 2015 he became general manager
passenger sales. So many struggles now in 2019 he become the chief commercial officer of PIA.

MANAGING EMPLOYEE:

He believes in team work. Because in PIA his experience a lot and many problems he faces in
his career. For his opinion sometimes be rude with his employees because of overloaded work
and stress of work but sometimes rudeness became more effective for employees they learn how
to do work in pressure.

LEADERSHIP STYLE:

His leadership style is team oriented, participate in every task, motivator and main thing is he
also visit the market with head station. His personality shows his style which attracts to peoples.
And the main thing which groom his personality is sincerity with his job.

USING POWER:

He stated that different powers are used in different situations. If his employees are working
properly and meeting the deadlines and giving good outcomes then he use reward power.
Reward power is that you motivate and appreciate your employee’s performance by giving them
reward and making others recognized about his good work. You value your employees hard
work and you appreciate him for that. This motivates employees and boosts their energy to work
more nicely on other targets.

 What is the most difficult u have ever face in your company?

According to the leader, It was difficult at initial stage to learn different jobs of marketing doing
by different sections of marketing commercial department. Gradually learn through trainings and
from seniors than practically at stations. When a person strongly with his self to do the
challenges then nothing is difficult. When we enjoy in our difficulties so that every challenges
we face, is there are problems so must be there are solutions.

 How do you utilize your strengths to control your weaknesses?

The mind of a human which decide to achieve the object in proper manner then naturally person
became strong and strength control his weakness essential factors are positive appearance of
mind, energy, confidence. Thinking becomes strength of person which overcomes on weakness.

 How do you deal with the employees and manage work stress if the
targets is not achieved by the employees?

The first step should be motivation, patience and be cool minded. Sometimes happened these
type of critical conditions, or not get proper results then controlling is the aspect to monitor their
activities. Find out the reason of that declining and compose restrictions in the light of those
outcomes. Being a leader I should have to cool my mind and also manage my employees to
control the stress and also motivate them.
 How to compete with your competitor strategies?

To compete in market through different strategies like product improvement, monitory benefits
of customer, attraction of product, publicity through media, coverage of time, improvement of
customer services, and the main thing is pricing. To enhance the beauty of the product more and
more. The important thing is to satisfy your customer it is biggest competition of any company.

 “A leader is nothing without his followers” your views on the


statement?

This is correct but it must be quality of leader to monitor his team properly, appreciated his team on their
achievements, motivate their team, increases their self esteem, increase their unity power. That
monitoring system makes team effective and provides expected results.
