NARRATIVE

Program: BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION
Instruction

The Bachelor of Secondary Education Program (BSED) and Bachelor of

Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) of Quirino State University is
structured to prepare professional teachers in the high schools. Its curriculum is
in accordance with CMO No. 75 , s. 2017 and CMO No. 78, s. 2017 respectively.
It includes the required general, professional and specialization subjects needed
by the would-be high school teachers to be competent enough to teach English,
Filipino, Mathematics, Science and BTLED majors in Home Economics,
Information and Communication Technology and Agri – Fishery among secondary
school students.

The curriculum and program of studies of the Bachelor of Secondary

Education has started in the year 1990 with majors in English Filipino,
Mathematics and General Science with Board Resolution No. 127, s. 1990. The
General Science major was reviewed and revised into Biological Science with
Curriculum Revision Board Resolution No. 09-13, s.09-13, s.015. In the year
2015, the Technology and Livelihood Education major was added in the
curriculum because of the demand of the major in the field of Basic Education
with Board Resolution No. 04-07, s. 2015.

The old and new curriculums are designed to meet the needs of
professional teachers for the Secondary Schools in the Philippines. It follows the
requirements and standards of CHED Memo No. 30 s. 2004. The Minimum
requirements are as follows: General Education – 63 units, Professional
Education – 54, Specialization / Content Course – 60/57 units.

CMO No. 75 s. 2017 the minimum requirements are as follows General

Education 36 units, Professional Education 42 units, Major Field of
Specialization 60/73 units, Field Study 6 units, GE Elective Units 9 units.

CMO No. 78 s. 2017 the minimum requirements are as follows General

Education 36 units, Professional Education 42 units, Major Field of
Specialization 60/73 units, Field Study 6 units, GE Elective Units 9 units.

For this school year the new curriculum for the Bachelor of Secondary
Education (BSED) is in accordance with CMO No. 75 s. 2017. Bachelor of
Technology and Livelihood Education Curriculum is in accordance with CMO No.
78 s. 2017.
