VI. Learning Experiences (5 Es)
1. Engage Students will watch the music of Mindanao, “Uwang Ahadas Gabbang”
( 10 mins) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR0heXocsA What can you say about the musician? The musician is
performing an instrumental music. Is he a Cebuano? No, he is a muslim. Where do you think is the musician lives?
He lives in Mindanao. Where do you think this music is being familiar? This is known in Mindanao. Would like to
know the title of the music which is just played a while ago? Alright, in order to know the title of this music you have
to fill in a correct letter to each blank. “UWAN__ AH__DAS GAB__ANG”. Who wants to guess? So the correct
answer is, “UWANG AHADAS GABBANG”, the music of Mindanao.
2. Explore
( 10 mins.) Students are grouped into three(3). A drawn by lot of numbers will be picked by each group so that they will know
what picture is assigned to them. Each group is expected to have 2 pictures of instrument. With the use of the
multimedia using the powerpoint look at on the board what instrument is designated to the number you have
picked. You will be given 10 minutes that is already includes practise and actual presentation. Each group will
produce a sound closely similar to the instrument. The following musical instruments are arranged in a power point
manner on the board. These are the ff: pictures expected to be seen on the board.

3. Explain What do you think you are doing? So, instead of playing the instrument you tried to imitate the sounds of the
instrument. Can you enumerate now the different musical instruments of Mindanao? These are the following
( 5 mins.) instruments: Kulintang, Agung, Gabbang, Kudyapi, Suling and Seronggagandi. State the discreptions of each
instrument.
4. Elaborate Let us know now the importance of their instruments. These musical instruments are used in their different types of
music. What do you think are the types of music in Mindanao? They have vocal music and instrumental music. The
( 10 mins.) group 1 will read and enumerates the vocal music of Mindanao with the use of their textbook such as lugu,
kalangan, lunsey, dicker, bayok, ya-ya, and bayok. The group two is asked to read loudly the instrumental music
such as kulintang ensemble and bamboo ensemble. The group 3 will read the discreption of each vocal music. Why
is it categorized as instrumental music? It is because the music being performed is accompanied with the musical
instruments. Is the music of Mindanao pleasing to our ears? Did you appreciate their music?
5. Evaluate It’s time to recall now how far you recognized the music of Mindanao. The students are given 10 items quiz in a
matching type.
