Abstract:
Soy milk compared to dairy milk has much lower calories and has as much
protein. It is free from cholesterol and is widely recommended by dieticians as a
substitute to cow milk as the source of protein, calcium, vitamin A and vitamin D for our
bodies. To produce soy milk, soybean must undergo multiple processes in order to
produce an edible product. First, rehydrated soybeans will be grinded with water
resulting to a slurry or purée. Then, mixture will be sterilized by boiling. Afterwards, the
soy milk undergoes to a filtration process to separate the soy fiber pulp from the milk.
The resulting product will then be cooled by the cooling machine in order to prevent the
milk from quickly spoiling.

Abstract:
Peanut pulp are commonly made using cellulose fibers from wood, fiber crops
and waste paper. An issue with making paper pulp is that it requires logging which has
a huge impact on our environment. Some manufacturers doesn’t manage their use of
their resources which in turn results to reduction of forest areas.
Abstract:
Sambong leaves are known for its medicinal properties. It is used as a herbal
medicine in treating symptoms of common colds. It is also used as a diuretic to
treat urolithiasis(urinary tract or kidney stones), urinary tract infections and reducing
blood pressure. Sambong works as an astringent in treating cuts and wounds. The
active ingredients exist in the volatile oil, made from the leaves of the sambong, which
have mostly camphor and limonene, but also has traces of borneol, saponin,
sesquiterpene, and tannin.
The drying component of the machine will make use of a heating chamber,
drying chamber, heat exchanger and electrical heater. Fresh sambong leaves are
placed inside the drying machine which will then turn to dried leaves which will be
pulverized in the grinder. The grinder will handles the pulverizing operation and will
make the finished product in form of a powder.

Abstract:
The atis is a fruit brought to the Philippines by the Spaniards during the Spanish
expedition. The atis grows in tropical and subtropical areas, but it flourishes in a variety
of soil types, and is moderately resistant to drought. This flexibility has allowed it to grow
on five continents. Atis are known for its delicious flesh which is fragrant and sweet,
creamy white through light yellow, and resembles and tastes like custard. It is found
adhering to 13-to-16-millimetre-long (0.51 to 0.63 in) seeds forming individual segments
arranged in a single layer around a conical core. It is soft, slightly grainy, and slippery.
The principle use of atis is raw consumption of the fruit, which are segmented,
knobby clusters of juicy, sweet flesh. High in calories and iron, this fruit is good for
providing extra nourishment for people in the tropics and subtropics. Usually when
eating an atis, the seeds are spat out or separated from the flesh. The seeds are
abundant, hard and toxic when ingested. This toxicity, however, has shown promise as
a natural pesticide. Oil extracted from the seeds has been shown in studies to be as
effective as conventional pesticides at eliminating pests from crops such as tomatoes,
melons, and soybeans in greenhouse conditions. A design will be utilized in creating a
machine that will be extracting the oil from the atis seeds in order to create a
conventional fertilizer ready for use.
Topic Proposal: Design and Development of Agro-waste Pyrolyzing and Briquetting
machine for Charcoal clay briquette production
Abstract:
The most common agricultural wastes in the Philippines are rice husk, rice straw,
coconut husk, coconut shell and bagasse. The country has good potential for biomass
power plants as one-third of the country’s agricultural land produces rice, and
consequently large volumes of rice straw and hulls are generated.
Abstract:
Every country in the world seeks sources of renewable energy. Since there is
limit to some of the sources of fuel and energy to the sources given today, people are
striving to search for sources of energy that is renewable and sustainable. An average
of 7000 footsteps is made by a single person every day. If a single step can generate
electricity, what can 7000 footsteps do?
I chose this topic because walking is already a part of everyday life of humans. It
is essential to find new sources of energy since a lot of energy sources today are
limited.
The shoe or any footwear can be installed with some piezoelectric disc.
Electricity can be generated by every pressure made by a foot to the sole. A small
power bank may be installed for the storage of energy.
Wood Chips to Ethanol Converting Machine
Abstract:
Abstract:
In this era of globalization, the increasing demand for energy and the
dependence of countries on energy indicate that energy will continue to be relevant in
the world. There is therefore, a need to search for alternative and renewable sources of
energy. The focus of this research is the orange peel which is one of the biggest waste
in the world. In Brazil, the world's largest producer of orange juice, half the orange fruit
is left as waste once the juice has been recovered. This corresponds to eight million
tons a year of orange peel that can be used to produce chemicals, materials and fuels.
I chose this project to significantly lessen the environmental waste and to turn it
into something which the environment will benefit from.
The process will start from the production of glucose solution by the enzyme
hydrolysis of the orange peel. The glucose solution will then go through a process of
fermentation with the addition of yeast to produce ethanol, water and carbon dioxide.
The ethanol produced can now be used.
Food Waste to Fertilizer Converting Machine
Abstract:
I chose this topic because a lot of fertilizers today are unreasonably expensive
that farmers are in dire need of fertilizers that are cheap and accessible. In a 2011
research made by Food and Agricultural Organization, over 1.3 billion tons of food is
lost each year. It amounts to an average of 3.29kg/year of food is wasted by every
Filipino. With the same amount, more than 2 million Filipino could have been fed. This
topic aims to lessen the food wastage and turn this food waste into something that can
produce some benefits.
The process will start by feeding the waste into a grinder or a hogger to turn it
into a pulp. The pulp is then heated to kill all the bad bacteria in the pulp. The pulp will
then go to a separator to separate the liquids from the solids. The liquid can already be
sold as a liquid fertilizer while the solids are blended with feather mill and potash to
increase the nitrogen and potassium level. It will then go through a pin mill or a
pelletizer to create the fertilizers.
Water to fuel converter
Abstract:
Various strategies have been made to achieve renewable energy. One of these
examples is solar energy. Many solar cells are popping up on rooftops everywhere
these days and are a model for clean, renewable energy. But there is one drawback in
solar energy; it is that it cannot produce energy when the sun is down. One strategy to
overcome this challenge is to store the energy produced by solar cells during the day in
the form of a fuel that can be used at a later time. The hydrogen and oxygen are fuels
that can be burned in devices such as fuel cells to produce clean electricity when it is
dark.
The process is not really long but it can be very efficient. The water will go
through a process called electrolysis. This process is the decomposition of water to
oxygen (O2) and hydrogen gas (H2) due to an electric current passing through the water.
The hydrogen produced can be used to create a hydrogen fuel.
Fertilizer Pellets Made from Composted Livestock Manure
Abstract:
Compost made from livestock manure is an effective material for improving the
physical and chemical condition of soil. However, there are two factors that limit the
application of ordinary composted livestock manure. The first problem is that composted
livestock manure usually has a high moisture content and a high volume per unit of
weight. As a result, it is difficult and costly to transport. The second problem is that the
quality of the compost and its nutrient content are not constant. This also limits the
efficient use of compost. The molding technology used for composted livestock manure
is an effective solution to both problems.
