COURSE TITLE : Health Care I

COURSE CREDIT : Classroom – 4 hours/week x 18 weeks = 72 hours

RLE – 9 hours/week x 18 weeks = 162 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course is designed to provide students with the beginning attitude,
knowledge and skills in identifying concepts and principles, processes, values basic to
Primary Health Care (PHC) utilizing the health care process with focus on basic health
interventions emphasizing the promotion and maintenance of health, prevention of
disease and rehabilitation process as a preventive approach.

Placement : 2nd Year - 1st Semester

Professional Competencies:

After 2 years, the ASHE graduate shall:

1. Utilize the health care process in performing her role as a primary health care worker.

Terminal Competencies:

At the end of the semester, the ASHE 2 students shall:

1. Discuss the basic concepts of community health;
2. Discuss health as a social phenomenon at the micro and macro level;
3. Analyze the health care system as to the roles of the government, objectives,
components, its thrusts and strategies, issues and concerns affecting;
4. Discuss the principles of Primary Health Care (PHC) and the services offered under it;
5. Demonstrate basic skills in the care of client as a primary health care worker.

Entry Competency:
The student should have finished Social Anthropology and Philosophy of Man.
