1 DEFINITIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

1.1 Operating Areas – Rig

Land Rig: Operating areas with easy access to a National Oilwell Varco store or customer’s own
regional warehouse.
Offshore Rig: Operating areas in remote locations.

1.2 Operating Areas – Group

Group 1: Operating less than four (<4) of the same unit.

Group 2: Operating four or more (>4) of the same unit.

1.3 Life Cycle Class

Class A: Maintenance parts – wear and tear parts requiring periodic service or replacement.
Class B: Repair parts – parts which normally have an extended, but not indefinite life.
Class C: Over-haul parts – parts normally required only for major overhauls.
Class D: Complete Component Replacement – when repair or over-haul is not cost effective.

1.4 Recommendations

Group 1: One (1) order per unit for your area.

Group 2: One (1) order per four (4) units for your area.

1.4.1 Example of Spare parts

For an Offshore Rig using one (1) shaker, the recommended spare parts for year one (1) to minimize
downtime would be as follows (see Table 1-1).

1.6 Equipment Identification

A general equipment name tag provides important information about the shaker. The tag is made of 18-
gauge stainless steel and is affixed to the equipment skid. Refer to the serial number to ensure that the
correct spare parts are supplied.

2.3 Motor/Starter

When replacing a motor, locate the motor part number on the motor tag and use that part number to
order.

When replacing starter internals, locate the starter part number on the starter tag and use that part
number to reference internals needed for ordering.

Contact Inside Sales for assistance when ordering starter internals.

2.4 Spare Parts for Cold Storage

For shaker assemblies that are suitable for cold storage, replace components that show signs of material
degradation, including but not limited to motor internals and wear items.
