Electrode for Welding of Austenitic Stainless Steels & CrNiMoCu Steels in Severe Corrosive
Media.
PRINCIPAL APPLICATIONS:
For welding Austenitic stainless steel grades and CrNiMoCu Steels. Typical applications are
found in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, paper and allied industries, chemical and
pharmaceutical industries. Typically used in environments containing sulfuric and phosphoric
acid.
OUTSTANDING FEATURES:
· Excellent operating features and easy slag removal in all positions.
· Smooth, Fine-rippled weld beads with negligible spatter.
· Confirms to ASME Sec II, Part C, SFA 5.4-2007, Class E 385-17.
CHARACTERISTICS:
Controlled chemistry of the core wire and flux the coating enables consistent achievement of
outstanding weld metal properties. High Ni, Cr, Mo and Cu ensure excellent corrosion resistant
properties, low carbon content of weld metal keeps free from inter-granular corrosion. Fully
austenitic structure ensures minimum possibility of precipitation of delta-ferrite and sigma
phases.
PROCEDURE:
Clean weld area. Bevel heavy sections 60 to 90 ”V”. Clamp or tack long seams. Use chill bars
and back-up plates to minimise distortion. Deposit stringer beads with shortest arc length. Chip
out slag between passes. Inter-pass temperature not to exceed 1500C. This electrode deposit
being a zero ferrite, it prone to give crater crack and hence need to adopt the push back
technique to fill the crater.
