College Algebra
First Semester A.Y. 2015– 2016

III. Course Description This course deals with the fundamental concepts of algebra. It covers topic on algebra of numbers, sets, real number
system, operations with numerical and algebraic expressions, radicals, polynomials, rational expressions, linear and
quadratic equations.

IV. Course Credits 3 units

V. Prerequisite NONE

VI. General Objective: At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

1. Analyze axioms, properties and assumptions which may be used as bases in discussing algebraic principles;
1. Formulate the question in a mathematical context, set up the required mathematical procedure and carry out the
required mathematical analysis and calculations, with appropriate use of a calculator, to answer the questions.
2. Solve, evaluate and manipulate symbolic and numerical problems by applying fundamental rules, principles and
processes; and
3. Show qualities that are desirable and acceptable in a social setting, one of which is the quality of being precise and
systematic.

Course Requirements:

A student is expected to comply with the following:

1. Must have at least 80% attendance of the prescribed number of days.


2. Obtain satisfactory ratings to the quizzes and the major examinations.
3. Submit compilation of all the requirements at the end of the semester.
