Rohan Builders is pleased to announce its annual competition, THE DRAWING BOARD.

It is a two stage
competition and is open to students of Architecture and Interior Design.

DESIGN BRIEF

The competition aims to explore sensitive and intelligent designs that recognize the existing context as an important
layer of the settlement. The design has to evolve from the available resources of the place and needs of its people.
The multipurpose activity center should be able to transform itself through the day engaging different age groups -
from an informal playschool for children (Balwadi) in the mornings, to vocational training center / work shop to
make and encourage products manufactured by the women dwellers in the afternoon, to a place for social gatherings
or hold bhajans in the evening and a shelter for homeless at night.

COMPETITION STAGES & SUBMISSION

The first stage will be design presentation limited to 4 -A3 size sheets in JPG/PDF format only (No Auto-cad
format) with maximum resolution up to 50mb only.

For the second stage, 8 best entries will be selected from Stage 1. For stage 2, the selected participants will have to
be physically present in Pune to explain the design process and presentation

DESIGN PROGRAM

Multi activity center – 140 sq.m. (Built up Area)

There is no restriction in use of materials and technology. Setbacks are not required.

Site Context

The proposed site measuring 1430 sq.m. is an integral part of the settlement located at the foot hills of Parvati hill
temple, has an unobstructed view of the hillock and is an extension of the cascading rocky terrain. The spirit of the
site lies in the dynamism and vibrancy of the activities it exhibits; a playground, existing Ganesha temple, a place
where people congregate and unite as one to celebrate festivals or come together to hoist a flag and celebrate spirit
of the nation. The design intervention should only enhance this vibrancy.
