World IoT Hackathon

Rules and Guidelines:-

● The maximum number of people that can participate as a team is 4. Single participant is also
allowed.
● Participants should be exclusively students, who are not organizers, judges, sponsors, or in any
other privileged position at the event.
● All team members should be present at the event.
● Teams can gain support from organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and others.
● Teams can work on ideas that have already been done. If somebody wants to work on a common
idea they should be allowed to do so and should be judged on the quality of their hack. These
days it’s hard to find something that’s fully original and teams might not know an idea has been
done before anyway.
● Teams can submit their ideas in the form of powerpoint presentation, video or
prototype(working/non-working). Working on a project before the event and open-sourcing it for
the sole purpose of using the code during the event is against the spirit of the rules and is not
allowed.
● Adding new features to existing projects is allowed. Judges will only consider new functionality
introduced or new features added during the hackathon in determining the winners.
● Teams can be disqualified from the competition at the organizers' discretion. Reasons might
include but are not limited to breaking the Competition Rules, breaking the Code of Conduct, or
another unsporting behavior.
● Your presentation should consist of no more than 10 slides. Depending on the number of
participating teams, please expect to have roughly 5-6 minutes for your presentation and an
additional 3-4 minutes for Judges to ask you questions.
● The mode of communication for presenting your idea should be English. This is basically done to
ensure the comfort of the speakers.
● It is mandatory to carry your laptops along with you throughout the event.
● You will be provided with internet connectivity but it is requested of you to carry an internet
connection as a backup.
● Also, you will have to carry your university/college blazers. It will be easy for us to differentiate
you in the crowd. No other dress code is required.

NOTE: This is to inform you that you will be submitting your ideas on Day 1 (8th March) and out of those
a minimum of 10 ideas will be selected for the presentation which is to take place on Day 2 (9th March).
