ACT 1

FADE IN:

EXT. COLE LABORATORIES - NIGHT

COLE LABORATORIES, a sleek modern building surrounded by


dense forest. An emergency signal is blaring.

SUPERIMPOSE:

COLE LABORATORIES

SEPTEMBER 20, 2020

INT. COLE LABORATORIES - NIGHT

A computer monitor displays an error message that reads:

CRITICAL ERROR: NO REGULATOR DETECTED.

Then a door slams.

A panicked engineer sprints down the hall, he throws open a


door into the testing lab.

Inside is a machine, almost fully started up, but something


is wrong.

ENGINEER
Someone shut it off! It's gonna
explode!

All the technicians surrounding the machine look in the


engineers direction, but it's too late.

Before they have a chance to shut it off the side of the


machine suddenly explodes, sending a surge of what looks
like heatwaves into a wall.

INT. RIAN HOUSE, MILE'S ROOM - MORNING

MILES RIAN, 17, wakes up to an alarm. Music plays as he gets


ready for school. He finishes getting ready and runs
downstairs to...

THE KITCHEN

Miles grabs some food and shoves it into a lunchbox. His


sister, KATELYN RIAN, 19, is sitting on the couch in the
living room eating cereal while on her phone. Miles' dad,
MATT RIAN, 43, (The chief of police) is talking on the
phone.

MILES
(TO KATELYN)
What are you doing up so early?

She ignores him and continues what she is doing. Miles


heads toward the door.

MILES (cont'd)
See ya later dad!

MATT
Bye, have a nice day at school.

Miles exits the house.

EXT. MILES' HOUSE - MORNING

He runs out the door toward the bus stop while the bus is
approaching. He meets one of his friends/ neighbor NOAH
BRATTON, 17, at the stop.

NOAH
Hey Miles!

MILES
Noah! What’s Up?

They enter the bus and find their friend CAMERON THOMAS,
16, and sit by him.

CAMERON
Hey guys. What’s going on?

Music and boys talking fades as camera shows bus drives


away from the stop.

EXT. ELKINS THEATER - MORNING

A car pulls into the nearly empty parking lot of a shopping


strip. The Elkins Theater is located in this strip. The door
opens and Katelyn steps out.

INT. ELKINS THEATER - MOMENTS LATER

Katelyn enters the building and is greeted by her friend,


NATALIE THRUSSELL, 20, who works at the same theater.

NATALIE
Hey, Katelyn. How are you?

KATELYN
Hey Nat. I'm fine, whats going on?

NATALIE
Not much, you meet the new guy,
Greyson?

Katelyn looks around and doesn't see him.

KATELYN
No I haven't seen him yet.

NATALIE
Come here, I'll introduce you.

Katelyn follows Natalie into the back.

INT. SCHOOL - NOON

The bell rings and kids flood the hallway. Miles, Noah,
Cameron, and HAZEL LAWSON, 16, enter the hallway.

NOAH
That was so weird. Mr. Norris never
does pop quizzes.

HAZEL
Yeah what's up with that? I hope it's
not something he's going to start
doing now.

CAMERON
I'm not sure how many more of those
my grade can take before I fail the
class. I don't think we even went
over some of that stuff in class yet.

INT. SCHOOL, CAFETERIA - NOON

The kids are sitting at a lunch table. Noah and Cameron are
discussing video games.

CAMERON
Yeah, and you can go in all the
abandoned houses and drive all sorts
of vehicles.

NOAH
That sounds really interesting, I
just hope it doesn't end up like all
those other games with all the hype
then never really goes anywhere and
dies off in a few months.

HAZEL
Guys, what are you even talking
about?

Miles notices a kid being bullied by the school bully, DYLAN


WESTBROOK, 17, from across the cafeteria.

MILES
That's not cool, someone should do
something to stop him.

CAMERON
Why don't you Miles?

The lights begin to flicker, then the power goes out.

INT. COLE LABORATORIES - NOON

The machine powers up and the lights begin to flicker


throughout the lab. HUDSON COLE, 44, founder of the company
is observing. Just when it looks like it will work it shuts
down and the power goes out.

HUDSON
What's going on?

TECHNICIAN 1
We overdrew the power. We need to
work a little more on the power
regulation, we should have it down by
the next trial.

HUDSON
Alright, make sure we get it right
next time, they'll shut us down if we
don't get it up and running soon.

TECHNICIAN 1
No problem sir.

EXT. ELKINS POLICE DEPARTMENT - AFTERNOON

Matt parks his cruiser and shuts it off.

INT. ELKINS POLICE DEPARTMENT - MOMENTS LATER

Matt is about to enter his office, when he notices a burly


almost homeless looking man, STEVEN BARNES, 46, sitting on
the bench outside his office.

MATT
What is it Steven?

STEVEN
You gotta listen to me chief. I know
you think I'm crazy but you got to
listen to me.

MATT
What about?

Matt enters his office and Steven follows.

STEVEN
It's about the power outage. I know
who's behind it.

Matt takes a seat, Steven remains standing in front of the


desk.

MATT
And who's that?

STEVEN
It's the guys at Cole Labs, they are
working on something big and--

Matt interrupts him.

MATT
Steven, you can't just blame anything
out of the ordinary on Hudson and the
lab. I understand you got kicked out
of there but I've had enough of this.

STEVEN
Just look into it Chief, I promise
you won't be disappointed.

MATT
Fine, I'll look into it. But please
stop coming in here and wasting my
time with this--

CASEY GLADWIN, 36, enters the office.

CASEY
Hey chief, we've got a situation out
here we need your assistance with.

MATT
Yeah, I'll be right there.

Matt gets up and grabs his hat.

MATT (cont'd)
(To Steven)
I don't want to see you back here
unless you have an actual legal
matter for us to handle.

Matt heads toward the door to follow Casey.

CASEY
What was that about Chief?

MATT
Nothing, he was just going off about
the lab again. Thanks for saving me
back there.

CASEY
Yeah, no problem.

EXT. MILES' STREET - AFTERNOON

The kids are walking to Miles' house from school.

NOAH
You know what's weird?

CAMERON
The way the lunch lady winked at you
and gave you extra mashed potatoes
today?

NOAH
No Cameron, the power outage. Its
understandable if it went out for a
few seconds maybe, but a full half
hour? And then it wasn't even just
our school, but the whole town. That
had to be something big.

HAZEL
My dad said it was a test they were
running at the lab that went wrong
and they pulled too much power from
the grid. But he couldn't tell me
anything else.

MILES
Oh yeah, I forgot your dad worked
there. I bet he gets to work on a lot
of cool projects.

HAZEL
Yeah, but he can never tell me
anything so I wouldn't know anything
about it.

CAMERON
I wonder what they would be working
on there that could shut down the
whole power grid.

The kids walk past Noah's house. His mom, SUZANNE BRATTON,
38, is just getting home from the store and unloading
groceries from the car.

SUZANNE
Hey Noah, I want you home for dinner
tonight okay?

NOAH
Okay mom.

The kids continue to Miles' house.

INT. RIAN HOUSE - EVENING

The kids are in Miles' basement playing video games. Matt


comes down the stairs.

MATT
Oh, I didn't realize all you guys
were here.

MILES
Hey dad, how was work? Do you know
anything about that power outage?

MATT
Work was fine. Crazy Steven Barnes
was trying to tell us it was
something at Cole Labs, but I haven't
looked into it yet.

CAMERON
My boy Steven, you gotta love him.

Matt looks at Cameron with concern.

MILES
Oh yeah, Hazel's dad called. He said
it actually was something they were
working on over there, maybe you
should check it out.

MATT
Yeah, I was thinking of heading over
there tomorrow and just check up,
make sure it's not a big deal, I
don't think it will be.

Miles' mom NORAH RIAN, 40, calls from upstairs.

NORAH
Hey, are you all staying for dinner?
If so, it's ready.

They all begin heading toward the stairs.

NOAH
I'm gonna go, my mom wants me home
for dinner.

MILES
Alright, see you tomorrow.

CAMERON/HAZEL
See ya Noah.

They all start to walk upstairs. Miles notices for a moment


it looks like time is slowing down around him, but it
happens so quickly he shakes it off and pretends it was
nothing before continuing up the stairs.

FADE IN:

INT. RIAN HOUSE, MILES ROOM - MORNING

Miles wakes up to an alarm. Music plays as he gets ready for


school. He finishes getting ready and runs downstairs to...

THE KITCHEN

He grabs some food and shoves it in a lunchbox. Katelyn, is


sitting on the couch in the living room eating cereal while
on her phone. Miles' dad is talking on the phone.

MILES
(To Katelyn)
What are you doing up so early again?

She looks confused at first but ignores him and continues


what she is doing. Miles heads toward the door.

MILES (cont'd)
See ya later dad!

MATT
Bye, have a good day at school.

Miles exits the house.

EXT. RIAN HOUSE - MORNING

Miles runs out the door toward the bus stop while the bus is
approaching. He meets Noah at the stop. They enter the bus,
find Cameron and sit by him.

CAMERON
Hey guys. Whats going on?

MILES
Not much, I just hope Mr. Norris
doesn't give us another pp quiz
today.

Miles laughs slightly at his own joke.

NOAH
What are you talking about? Mr.
Norris didn't give a pop quiz?

CAMERON
Shoot, did I miss a quiz?

MILES
He gave one yesterday, remember?

CAMERON
Yesterday was Sunday, what are you
talking about?

MILES
What are you talking about? You're
messing with me, right? I clearly
remember yesterday, and Mr. Norris
did give us a pop quiz, you guys were
all there.

NOAH
No, he's not messing with you Miles,
its really Monday.

Miles takes out his phone to check the date. It shows:

SEPTEMBER 21, 2020

MILES
Wow, that's so weird, I could swear
it happened. It must have just been
some weird vivid dream or something.

INT. SCHOOL - NOON

The bell rings and kids flood the hallway. Miles, Noah,
Cameron, and Hazel enter the hallway.

NOAH
Okay, that must be a coincidence. Mr.
Norris never has given a pop quiz
before. How did you know?

MILES
This is getting too weird. I remember
learning everything we are learning
today, but yesterday. And I know I've
taken that test before.

CAMERON
Maybe it's like that movie Groundhog
Day, you know, when the guy keeps
living the same day over and over
again.

HAZEL
Yeah, you're right.

NOAH
Cameron, how would that even work?
It's not possible, that's not just
something that happens.

The kids arrive in the lunch room.

INT. SCHOOL, CAFETERIA - NOON

The kids are sitting at a lunch table.

CAMERON
Okay, well let's test my theory. Tell
me what's going to happen next Miles.

Miles looks around the room while he thinks. He notices


Dylan walking toward the same kid he was bullying from
before.

MILES
Okay, Dylan is about to start picking
on that kid over there.

NOAH
Well duh, he's walking right toward
him, what else is he gonna do?
Compliment him?

CAMERON
He's got you there, that kinda
Dylan's thing, everyone knows that.

MILES
True. OH! I got it. In a minute the
power is going to go out, not just in
the school but for the whole town,
for like a half an hour.

NOAH
Yeah, right, that's crazy. I doubt
that will happen, the pop quiz thing
was probably just a coincidence or
something, but the power going out
for the whole town? You must have
just had a crazy dream or something,
that doesn't actually--

The lights flicker then go out. Kids around the cafeteria


are confused and some start freaking out.

NOAH (cont'd)
Okay then Miles, maybe you're on to
something.

CAMERON
(Quietly)
Just like Groundhog Day--

NOAH
Would you shut up about Groundhog Day
Cameron, there's gotta be some sort
of explanation.

The staff begin evacuating the building since its dark.

EXT. MILES' STREET - AFTERNOON

The kids are walking down the street. Hazel just finishes a
phone call and hangs up.

HAZEL
Yeah, he's right. My dad said it was
something they were working on at the
lab that caused the power outage, but
he couldn't tell me much about it.

NOAH
Okay, so there's really no way it can
be a coincidence at this point, but
what I'm wondering is how? How is
this possible?

MILES
I don't know. But I wonder... Last
night when we were heading upstairs
for dinner, it looked for a moment
like everything went in slow motion.
At first I just assumed it was
nothing, like I got up too fast or
something, but what if it actually
was something, I wonder if it's the
same thing.

CAMERON
Dude! What if you have super powers.

MILES
I wouldn't go as far as to say that
Cameron. I don't even know if its
something that I have control over or
something I can learn to control.

They arrive at Miles' house.

INT. RIAN HOUSE - AFTERNOON

The kids are gathered in the basement.

NOAH
Okay, so lets figure out what this
is, why you have it, and if it's
something you can control.

MILES
I don't even know where to start.

HAZEL
Did you do anything out of the
ordinary that could cause it?

MILES
No, I haven't done anything unusual.
I barely even left the house over the
weekend.

CAMERON
We should see if we can figure out
how you can control it.

NOAH
Okay, so what do you suggest we try?
It's not exactly obvious.

CAMERON
I don't know, just try to like, think
about controlling time or something.
It's not like you did anything
specific to trigger it before, right?

MILES
I guess it's worth a shot.

Miles closes his eyes to concentrate. The world around him


warps and changes as he shifts out of time. Everything goes
back to normal and he opens his eyes.

CAMERON
It worked! Show us your watch.

Miles shows his watch, it reads:

The group looks at Cameron's phone, which reads the time:

HAZEL
It actually worked!

NOAH
We need to be careful with this, we
can't be using it recklessly. If
we're not careful we could seriously
mess up timelines and stuff.

HAZEL
Like the butterfly effect.

NOAH
Exactly.

CAMERON
You should try and see if you can
bring us with you.

NOAH
Cameron, what did we just talk about.
We have to be careful, we don't know
what can happen.

CAMERON
Well yeah, but if it works do you
know how awesome that would be? We at
least gotta test it out and see if
it's possible.

NOAH
You know what, whatever, go for it
Cam. But if something bad happens,
that's on you.

CAMERON
(To Miles)
So, what do ya say. Wanna try it?

MILES
We can try, but I don't even know if
anything will happen.

CAMERON
Awesome! Let's do this.

HAZEL
I'll come too.

MILES
Really?

HAZEL
Yeah, why not? It will be fun.

NOAH
Alright then guys. Just leave me all
alone here then.

HAZEL
We'll be right back.

NOAH
Whatever.

Cameron and Hazel grab Miles' hands. Miles concentrates and


they go a few more minutes into the future.

CAMERON
Wow! It worked! This is incredible,
we can go to whatever time we want.

NOAH
Did you forget already we are
supposed to be being careful with
this? We don't know where Miles got
these power from, or what it's doing
to him.

HAZEL
Chill out a little Noah. We're just
testing things out, we aren't just
going to mess around with it,
especially if it's hurting him.

MILES
No, it's fine. I feel fine. But yeah
we will take it slow until we know
more about it.

NOAH
Good.

INT. RIAN HOUSE, MILES ROOM - MORNING

Miles wakes up to his alarm. He runs downstairs.

THE KITCHEN

Miles grabs some food and shoves it into his lunchbox. Matt
is making a sandwich.

MATT
Bye Miles. Have a good day at school.

Miles exits the house.

EXT. RIAN HOUSE - MORNING

Miles runs out the door toward the bus stop while the bus is
approaching. He meets Noah at the stop.

NOAH
Hey Miles!

MILES
Hey! Today's Tuesday, right?

Noah laughs and they begin walking toward the bus as it


arrives.

NOAH
Yeah, you're good.

They board the bus and sit by Cameron.

CAMERON
So, anything new?

MILES
No, I didn't try and mess with it
much after you guys left.

CAMERON
I still can't believe this is
actually happening. You actually have
super powers Miles.

NOAH
First of all, shut up Cam, you know
how loud you are talking? Second,
let's not talk about it when there
are so many people around.

CAMERON
Oh yeah, yeah, you're right. I
forgot.

INT. ELKINS POLICE DEPARTMENT - MORNING

Matt is heading to his office when Casey stops him.

CASEY
Hey, Chief.

MATT
Yeah?

CASEY
Do you want to stop by Cole Labs
later and see if we can get them to
answer a few questions about the
power surge?

MATT
Yeah, we can probably stop by after
lunch.

CASEY
Sounds good.

Casey walks away and Matt enters his office.

INT. SCHOOL, CAFETERIA - NOON

The boys are sitting at their lunch table as Hazel is just


arriving.

HAZEL
So, any updates Miles?

Miles begins to answer but is interrupted by Cameron.

CAMERON
Noah said we shouldn't talk about it
in public places.

DYLAN
Talk about what?

Dylan is standing behind Cameron.

MILES
Nothing Dylan, leave us alone.

Dylan grabs a chair and sits down at their table.

DYLAN
No, I'm interested now. What can't
you nerds talk about in public?

HAZEL
It's really none of your business
Dylan, we're not gonna tell you so
why don't you just leave.

DYLAN
(Looking in Cameron's
direction)
Whatever, I'll just get Blabbermouth
here to tell me later then.

Dylan knocks Cameron's tray off the table as he gets up and


leaves.

HAZEL
What's his problem?

Cameron starts picking up his lunch from the floor.

CAMERON
He hates us.

Steven heads toward the table to help Cameron pick up his


lunch.

CAMERON (cont'd)
Thanks Steven.

STEVEN
Hey, no problem, it's my job. And
remember Cameron, no one can make you
feel inferior without your consent.

Steven finishes picking up Cameron's lunch and walks away.

CAMERON
See guys. Everyone thinks he crazy,
but he actually have some good
advice.

NOAH
I'm pretty sure Eleanor Roosevelt
actually said that.

Cameron shrugs this off.

CAMERON
It's still good advice.

EXT. COLE LABORATORIES - AFTERNOON

Matt and Casey arrive at the gates and Matt stops to speak
with the guard.

LAB GUARD 1
Hey. I'm going to need to see some
identification.

Matt pulls out his badge.

MATT
Officer Rian, Chief of police. I just
need to stop by and ask some
questions about the power surge.

LAB GUARD 1
I'll see what I can do.

The guard picks up the phone.

INT. COLE LABORATORIES, HUDSON'S OFFICE - AFTERNOON

Matt and Casey are sitting in Hudson's office. Hudson


arrives and sits at his desk.

HUDSON
What's the issue officers? I heard
you are here to ask a few questions
about the incident yesterday?

MATT
Yeah, we got reports, so we just have
to come and check it out, make sure
everything is going smoothly, just a
formality.

HUDSON
Of course, not a problem. I can tell
you now we were just conducting some
routine trials for a new product we
are developing and had some issues
with power regulation and
accidentally overdrew the breaker.

CASEY
Yeah that all adds up.

MATT
Can you tell us anything about the
project?

MATT (cont'd)
It's obviously pretty powerful if it
can draw that much power from the
grid. Maybe something we should know
about?

HUDSON
You don't need to worry about it
officers, it's already been cleared
with state.

CASEY
Really? With state? Sounds like quite
a project, building a spaceship?

Hudson chuckles.

MATT
What? Just- Just don't ask anymore
questions, okay Case? I'll handle
this.

MATT (cont'd)
(Now to Hudson)
Alright, well if you already cleared
it with state then I suppose
everything checks out. Sorry to
bother you Mr. Cole.

HUDSON
Not a problem Officers. Glad I could
help with the investigation.

Matt and Casey leave Hudson's office and head down the
hallway.

MATT
I think something weird is going on
here. I want you to check up with
state about this when we get back to
the station.

CASEY
Of course Chief.

INT. RIAN HOUSE - EVENING

Miles and Cameron are working on homework in Miles' room.

CAMERON
You get X is 34?

MILES
Yup.

CAMERON
I'll check with Noah later, just to
make sure.

NORAH
(From Downstairs)
Dinner is ready!

The boys close their books and run downstairs. They sit down
at the table, Miles parents and sister are already sitting
down.

NORAH (cont'd)
You boys still working on homework?

MILES
Yeah, we're almost done.

The lights flicker and dim for a moment, then go back to


normal.

CAMERON
What was that?

MATT
Not sure, that's strange.

INT. COLE LABORATORIES - EVENING

The machine at the center of the room is repaired. There are


some technicians working around the machine on their
computers. One of the technicians approach Hudson.

TECHNICIAN 2
We are about to begin another trial
sir.

HUDSON
Great, run it.

The pilot, ELIJAH KERTIS, 33, enters the machine.

TECHNICIAN 3
Launching in 5- 4- 3- 2-

The machine starts to make its usual start up sounds while


it starts up. After a few seconds, the lights in the room
begin to flicker and dim, then the machine disappears with a
flash of light.

EXT. UNKNOWN LOCATION - 1956

Elijah exits dense forest and finds himself on a long empty


road. A car appears just a bit down the road and Elijah
flags it down.

The car slows as it approaches Elijah. Once stopped, Elijah


begins to talk with the driver.

ELIJAH
Hello sir, could you tell me what
year it is?

1956 DRIVER
It's 1956. Why do you ask?

Elijah begins heading back into the forest.

1956 DRIVER (cont'd)


Hey. Who are you?

Elijah gives no response and continues into the forest. The


driver is annoyed and drives away.

INT. ELKINS THEATER - MORNING

Natalie is working the counter. Katelyn walks in.

KATELYN
Hey Nat!

NATALIE
Hey Katelyn. What's up?

Katelyn notices someone walk behind Natalie, SABRINA CARTER,

KATELYN
Who's that?

NATALIE
Really? It's Sabrina.

KATELYN
Sabrina who?

NATALIE
Sabrina Carter. She's been our
manager for like half a year now. Are
you high or something?

Katelyn pauses to think for a moment.

KATELYN
If I'm being totally honest right now
Nat, I've never seen her in my life.
You're being serious? You're not
messing with me.

Natalie looks at her with concern.

NATALIE
Are you okay Katelyn? You really
don't remember?

Katelyn shakes her head. Sabrina walks back into the room.

NATALIE (cont'd)
Here. We can talk more about this
later. For now you better get back to
work before Sabrina catches you
standing around.

INT. SCHOOL, CAFETERIA - AFTERNOON

The kids are sitting at their table. Cameron is holding a


disposable cup containing a strange brown paste.

CAMERON
(Looking at the
strange paste)
What are the lunch ladies thinking?
There's no way this is edible.

MILES
What is that?

Cameron gets up and throws the cup away.

HAZEL
I'm pretty sure you're not supposed
to eat it alone. You're supposed to
put it on your sandwich.

CAMERON
Either way, no way I'm putting that
stuff in my body.

HAZEL
I'm not saying I would, just making
sure you understand how sauce works
Cam.

Cameron is upset by this comment, but Miles and Noah laugh.

CAMERON
(Sarcastically)
Of course I know how sauce works.

HAZEL
Why did you say that sarcastically?
Cameron, do you actually know how
sauce works?

CAMERON
You know what I meant.

The kids laugh, but Cameron is still visibly upset.

NOAH
Cam, she's just messing with you.

CAMERON
Whatever. Anyway, time travel later
anyone?

NOAH
How many times do I have to tell you
to shut up about this while we are in
public?

CAMERON
Right. Sorry, but can we? It would be
cool.

MILES
Sure. Why not?

NOAH
Miles! What are you doing? We can't

HUDSON
Prep the machine for two, I'll be
joining in on this one.

TECHNICIAN 2
Of course, no problem. The machine
will be ready momentarily.

Elijah is nearby prepping for the operation. Hudson


approaches him.

ELIJAH
Hey, I hear you'll be joining me
tonight?

HUDSON
Yeah, we have to make sure we get
these preliminary operations out of
the way before Eliza gets back. I'll
be joining to make sure it all goes
smoothly.

ELIJAH
Sounds good boss.

Technician 3 approaches them as they are finishing getting


ready.

TECHNICIAN 3
The machine is prepped and ready to
go when you are.

HUDSON
We'll be ready in just a moment.

They finish getting ready and head toward the machine.

So, what's it like, you know-- to
time travel?

ELIJAH
It's like nothing you ever felt
before. It's gonna feel really weird
at first, but you'll get used to it.

The machine starts to make its usual start up sounds while


it starts up. After a few seconds, the lights in the room
begin to flicker and dim, then the machine disappears with a
flash of light.

INT. ELKINS THEATER - AFTERNOON

Katelyn is looking at the weeks' schedule. She looks


confused. She goes over to Natalie.

KATELYN
Hey Nat. What happened to the new
guy, Greyson? I haven't seen him
today and I didn't see him on the
schedule either.

NATALIE
What? There is no new guy. Katelyn,
seriously, are you okay?

KATELYN
What do you mean? You literally just
introduced me to him yesterday.

NATALIE
Katelyn, I don't have time for this.
What are you talking about?

Katelyn looks concerned.

KATELYN
There's something weird going on
here. Nat, you gotta believe me. I'm
being serious this actually happened.

NATALIE
Look, I'm sorry but I have no idea
what you're talking about, I can't
help you.

KATELYN

Miles, his parents, and his sister are eating dinner.

KATELYN
So the strangest thing happened today
at work. Apparently we got a new
manager a few months back and I never
knew and Natalie acted like it's been
like this the whole time.

NORAH
What do you mean honey? You never
told us you got a new manager.

KATELYN
Exactly what I'm saying. I didn't
even know. Yesterday Riley was still
the manager, and today Nat tells me
she got fired almost half a year ago.

MATT
How can that be possible?

NORAH
Katelyn, you haven't been taking
drugs, have you?

KATELYN
Mom! No, of course not. I swear this
really happened.

Miles looks confused by this whole situation.

MILES
Hey mom, I'm done. Can I go now?

NORAH
Sure, just don't forget to rinse your
plate off and put it in the
dishwasher.

KATELYN
And another thing, we had this new
guy, Greyson--

INT. RIAN HOUSE, MILES ROOM - EVENING

Miles pulls his phone out of his pocket and opens up to a


group chat with Noah, Cameron, and Hazel. Miles texts:

EVERYONE MEET AT THE SCHOOL IN HALF AN HOUR

And hits send. Then he goes over to his window and begins to
climb out.

INT. SCHOOL - EVENING

Cameron is sitting on a bench, his bike is leaning against


it. Luke and Noah can be seen walking into the parking lot.

MILES
How did you get here so fast? Don't
you live further away than us?

Cameron points out his bike.

CAMERON
I'm faster on the bike.

NOAH
Why didn't we think of that Miles?

Hazel arrives, also on a bike.

HAZEL
Hey, so whats this meeting all about?

MILES
Okay, first of all, the weirdest
thing happened at dinner today.

CAMERON
What's that?

MILES
So Katelyn was telling my parents
about this new manager she got, but
here's the deal. She got the new
manager a few months ago, and
remembers none of it.

NOAH
Is she on drugs or something?

I don't think she's wrong, I hear her

all the time, so there's no way she

Yeah, for the past few months it's
been all about how much the new
manager Sabrina sucks.

MILES
Really? That's the strangest thing.
No one in my family remembers
anything about it.

CAMERON
Maybe it has something to do with
your powers?

MILES
Maybe, but I don't know why. That
doesn't make much sense.

CAMERON
Okay, we can talk about this later.
It's obviously not that important.

NOAH
Could be.

CAMERON
It's not important. So, what time
should we go to?

HAZEL
Something in the sixties would be
cool. Maybe the moon landing? That's
a pretty big moment that could be
pretty cool to see live.

MILES

Miles holds out his hands and the all grab hold. Miles
closes his eyes to concentrate.

INT. COLE LABORATORIES, HUDSON'S OFFICE - EVENING

Hudson is sitting at his desk working on paperwork. Elijah


enters the room.

ELIJAH
Hudson.

HUDSON
Yeah?

ELIJAH
The machine is charged and ready to
go when you are.

HUDSON
Alright.

Hudson gets up and follows Elijah into...

INT. COLE LABORATORIES, MAIN HALLWAY - EVENING

ELIJAH
So. Last operation before Eliza gets
back?

HUDSON
Yup. That's why we gotta make sure it
gets done right. We are already
cutting it close with all those
failed trials, we're lucky we got the
machine up and running when we did or
we would probably have some problems.

ELIJAH
How's that?

You know. We almost went bankrupt
trying to get this project up and
running. We're lucky we got it
working when we did. Now we just
gotta make sure to keep Eliza happy.

They enter the testing lab.

ELIJAH

A technician approaches them.

All set?

ELIJAH
Yup.

HUDSON
Of course.

They enter the machine. The doors are shut and we are now in
the machine with them.

TECHNICIAN 4
(Muffled through the
door of the machine)

The machine makes its usual startup noises as it shakes for


a few seconds, then it stops. Elijah opens the door to the
machine.

ELIJAH
Welcome to the fifties, sir.

EXT. SCHOOL - MORNING (1953)

Miles opens his eyes and the kids are standing on the edge
of a forest. There is a small school house nearby.

SUBTITLE FADES IN: Elkins High School - August 12, 1953

MILES
That felt weird. Different from
before.

NOAH
I mean, we did go a longer distance
than before.

MILES
Yeah, it could have something to do
with that. Anyway, let's see if we
can find some way to watch the
landing.

Cameron looks at the school building.

CAMERON
The school looks a lot smaller than
before.

NOAH
Well this was before they added onto
it. They probably only have a few
students that go here Cam.

CAMERON
Makes sense.

The kids begin to follow a nearby road into town.

EXT. KAZAKH SSR - NOON

Hudson and Elijah are driving a car. Hudson in the driver's


seat. They are driving along an empty road.

They approach another road and turn down it. They pass a
warning sign that reads (in Russian):

NO TRESPASSING - MILITARY FACILITY

HUDSON
This must be the place we're looking
for.

Hudson drives the car off the road, into nearby woods.

EXT. SEMKIPALATINKS TEST SITE, KAZAKH SSR - NOON

Hudson and Elijah are walking through the woods with modern-
day silenced pistols. They approach a large chain link fence
with barbed wire on top.

HUDSON
We have to find a way in there.

They begin to walk the length of the fence. Elijah notices a


small opening in the fence, just about big enough for them
to fit through.

ELIJAH
Hey, maybe this will work?

Hudson enters the hole first, he successfully makes it


through. Elijah enters next, he struggles at first but makes
it through.

They find a nearby window in the facility and climb through


it.

EXT. ELKINS TOWN SQUARE - NOON

The kids enter a small town. They see an older man sitting
on a bench, reading a newspaper and approach him.

CAMERON
Excuse me sir.

The man looks up from his paper and is startled.

1953 MAN
What in the world are you kids
wearing?

HAZEL
We're not from around here sir.

1953 MAN
No kidding.

CAMERON
Anyway, we were wondering if you
could tell us if there's anywhere we
could watch the moon landing from?
Like a TV store or something?

1953 MAN
I'm sorry. I'm not sure what you're
talking about son. What are you
talking about moon landing?

MILES
Really? Sir, what year is it?

The man looks down at his newspaper.

NOAH
(Whispering to Miles)
Don't ask stuff like that.

The man looks back up once he's found the answer.

1953 MAN
Says here its 1953.

CAMERON
You really didn't know that.

MILES
Shut up Cam.

NOAH
Sorry sir, we're just a little
confused.

The man looks the kids up and down again.

1953 MAN
Yeah. No kidding.

NOAH
Sorry, we really should be leaving
now sir. Thanks for the help.

The kids run back down the road where they came from.

INT. SEMKIPALATINKS TEST SITE, KAZAKH SSR - AFTERNOON

Hudson and Elijah walk down a hallway and come across two
armed guards facing the other direction. Hudson looks
conflicted. Elijah looks over and notices.

ELIJAH
(Whispering)
You know you don't have to do it if
you don't want to.

HUDSON
I'm going to have to do it sometime
if we are going to keep going on
missions like this.

Hudson points his gun at one of the guards, he flinches as


he pulls the trigger. The other guard looks over and is
about to yell out for help when we hear another silenced
gunshot. Elijah took out the other guard.

They hurry over to the guards and Hudson grabs a set of keys
off one of them.

They continue down the hallway before they come across and
intersection, they turn down a hallway with a secured door
at the end.

HUDSON (cont'd)
This must be it, follow me.

Hudson unlocks the door to find a room with a nuclear bomb


in the center along with a desk with many papers on it.

Hudson begins work on the bomb while Elijah collects the


papers in a briefcase.

After a few moments Hudson removes the core from the bomb
and places it into the secure case they brought.

HUDSON (cont'd)
Got it. Now let's get out of here
before they notice.

When Elijah opens the door, dozens of armed Russian guards


have their weapons drawn and pointed at them. Elijah reaches
for his gun.

HUDSON (cont'd)
Stop, we didn't prepare for this, it
can change something we weren't
supposed to. Let them take us.

INT. SEMKIPALATINKS TEST SITE, KAZAKH SSR - MILITARY HOLDING


CELLS - AFTERNOON

Hudson and Elijah are in a cell. Their weapons and briefcase


are on the warden's desk.

RUSSIAN WARDEN
(In Russian)
Wait here while I get a translator
for the interrogation.

The warden begins walking toward the door.

HUDSON
(Yelling to the
warden.)
We don't speak Russian!

ELIJAH
Where do you think he's going?

Hudson removes his shoe and begins looking for something


inside.

HUDSON
I don't know but we need to get out
of here before he gets back.

Hudson pulls a lock-pick from his shoe.

HUDSON (cont'd)
Got it.

Hudson begins working on the lock. Footsteps can be heard


coming down the hall.

ELIJAH
Maybe hurry up a little?

HUDSON
Almost done!

POP.

HUDSON (cont'd)
Got it!

The warden and translator enter the room. Hudson and Elijah
take them out and get their things back from the desk.

Hudson and Elijah sneak through the facility. After their


initial breaking, the security has been doubled.

They come across a hallway flooded with guards.

HUDSON (cont'd)
We'll try another way.

They begin sneaking through another hallway. Hudson notices


a security camera and shoots it down.

They come across a locked door with an open window inside.

ELIJAH
Shoot, it's locked.

HUDSON
I got it.

Hudson pulls out another lock-pick and begins picking the


lock.

Footsteps can be heard down the hallway. They can tell they
are running out of time.

Elijah runs to the corner of the hallway and as soon as the


guard rounds the corner, he knocks him out.

Another POP can be heard and the door opens. Another guard
sees Elijah and alerts others.

Hudson and Elijah run through the door and jump out the
window.

As they near the fence, guards begin flooding out from


around the building to stop them.

The guards shoot at them but are too far to land a shot.
Hudson and Elijah find the hole in the fence and climb
through it before disappearing back into the woods.

EXT. ELKINS - AFTERNOON

The kids are walking down and empty road, there are only few
houses and buildings between stretches of forest.

MILES
Okay, something definitely went wrong
when we came back here. I knew
something didn't feel right.

HAZEL
What could have gone wrong? You did
everything the same, right?

MILES
Yeah, I mean it technically did work,
we made it to the past, just too far
into the past.

CAMERON
Maybe we will figure it out once we
know more about your powers.

MILES
Yeah, we can try and figure it out
when we get back home.

CAMERON
You still wanna try and see if we can
watch the landing? You should be able
to do that right?

MILES
Yeah, it should work. I've never
tried it but I don't see why it
couldn't work. Let's try it.

NOAH
Are you sure? This is really
dangerous, we still don't know almost
anything about your powers.

MILES
Well, yeah. But-- Well, based on what
we have seen so far, nothing bad has
happened so I think we will be fine.
Worst case, we end up in the wrong
time again.

CAMERON
We could get stuck there.

NOAH
And I'm sure there are a lot worse
cases than that, but obviously you
guys never listen to anything I say,
so go for it.

They all grab Miles' hands and he closes his eyes to focus.

EXT. ELKINS - AFTERNOON (1969)

Miles opens his eyes and they are standing in the middle of
the same road, but with more houses and less stretches of
forest.

SUBTITLE FADES IN: Elkins - July 20, 1969

The sound of a car engine gets louder as it approaches. A


car is heading straight toward the kids and drifts out of
the way, nearly hitting them, then continues down the road.

CAMERON
Jeez. Okay, let's never travel in the
middle of a road again.

Miles holds his hand to his head in pain, like he has a


migraine. Cameron puts his hand on his shoulder.

CAMERON (cont'd)
You good Miles?

Miles recovers quickly.

MILES
Yeah. I think I'm fine. I don't know
what that was. Maybe just from the
multiple time jumps in such a short
period of time or something?

NOAH
See. I told you something bad could
happen.

MILES
No, really, I'm fine. It was nothing,
I don't even feel it anymore. Now
let's get back to town and see if we
can catch that launch.

They begin walking back toward the town.

HAZEL
Why did we walk all the way down
here, just to walk right back?

EXT. ELKINS TOWN SQUARE - NOON

The kids enter the town and find a nearby convenience store
and enter it.

INT. 1969 CONVENIENCE STORE - NOON

The kids approach the clerk.

CAMERON
Hey, there's supposed to be that moon
landing today, right?

1969 CLERK
Sorry, I don't know what you're
talking about kid. What moon landing?

MILES

1969 CLERK
July 20, 1969.

MILES
(To the other kids)
I don't get it. It's the right date,
right?

HAZEL
Yeah, it should be.

MILES
(To the clerk)
Were there any moon landings before?
Or will there be soon?

1969 CLERK
Not that I know of. As far as I know,
there never will be. No one's been
trying since the Soviet Space program
was cut back in '53.

HAZEL
What? That can't be.

CAMERON
(Confused)
'53?

Noah grabs the others and begins heading toward the door.

NOAH
Thank you sir, but we should really
be going now. Sorry about that.

They all leave the store.

EXT. ELKINS TOWN SQUARE - AFTERNOON

The kids find the same bench the old man was sitting in
before and sit down.

NOAH
Guys. What was that? You totally went
out of character. He probably knows
and now things are going to be
changed.

MILES
Dude. Did you hear him. Things are
already changed, and this is bad.
Something happened back in 1953 that
ended the space race, and changed the
whole outcome of the Cold War.

NOAH
See guys. This is why you don't mess
with time travel. Bad things happen.
Every time!

HAZEL
Noah, we didn't do anything in 1953
that would change the future, and
definitely not something that would
change the outcome of the whole Cold
War. Something else has to be going
on here.

NOAH
Okay, then what. What caused this.

CAMERON
Maybe whatever it was that sent us to
the wrong time in the first place.

NOAH
Are you saying someone else can time
travel?

CAMERON
I don't know exactly, but I don't
think it could have been something we
did. We barely did anything.

MILES
Who would want to change the outcome
of the cold war?

HAZEL
Well it would make sense if it was
someone who has to do with politics,
or the government. Most likely from
the United States.

CAMERON
Well, they could also be from Russia.

NOAH
Why would someone want their own
country to lose a war?

CAMERON

MILES
Alright guys, let's go back to the
future and try to figure it out
there, there's no point in staying
any longer.

Mile's gets up and begins walking out of view. The others


get up to follow when a car arrives, and a police car
following it. A man exits the car and a police officer also
exits his car.

1969 DRIVER
Here they are officer. They came out
of nowhere.

CAMERON
Run!

The kids run into an alleyway before grabbing hands and


disappearing. Moments later the officer rushes into the
alley to find it empty.

EXT. BRATTON HOUSE - NIGHT

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

Noah's mom, Suzanne opens the door. Norah Rian is standing


on the other side. She looks nervous, on the verge of a
breakdown.

NORAH
Did Miles come here?

SUZANNE
No, I haven't seen him. Why? Is
everything okay?

NORAH
After dinner I couldn't find him. I
thought he might have come over. I'm
sure he's fine but I couldn't find
him.

SUZANNE
Here, I'll go see if Noah knows
anything about it.

NORAH
Thank you.

INT. THRUSSELL HOUSE, NATALIE'S ROOM - NIGHT

Natalie is sitting on her bed, while Katelyn sits at


Natalie's desk.

KATELYN
Look Nat, I'm not crazy. I asked both
my parents if they remembered
anything and neither of them remember
Sabrina and even said they can
remember me talking about Riley as
the manager recently.

NATALIE
I don't know what you want me to say
Katelyn.

So what are you saying? There's some
conspiracy going on here and only you
and your family know about it?

KATELYN
I don't know. Maybe I am.

NATALIE
Okay, I'll help you. But I doubt
we're gonna find anything. Where do
we even begin?

KATELYN
I'm not sure, maybe we start by--

Katelyn's phone rings. She pulls it out and checks who it


is.

KATELYN (cont'd)
Sorry, it's my mom. I should take
this.

She answers the phone.

KATELYN (cont'd)
Hello?

She pauses and we hear a voice on the other end.

KATELYN (cont'd)
Oh. Okay, sure I'll be right there.

She hangs up the phone and puts it back in her pocket.

NATALIE
What was it?

KATELYN
Sorry, I have to go. My mom said
Miles is missing and she needs me to
help them find him.

Katelyn grabs her things and goes to exit the room.

NATALIE
Do you want me to help find him?

KATELYN

EXT. SCHOOL - NIGHT

The kids appear in the same spot they left. Cameron and
Hazel grab their bikes.

MILES
See you tomorrow guys.

(At once)
See ya.

They begin heading their separate ways home. Miles and Noah
walk together.

EXT. ELKINS - NIGHT

Miles and Noah are talking on their way home. A police car
is seen driving down the road.

NOAH
Shoot. Miles, what if they are
looking for us.

MILES
There's no way, it's not even late.

NOAH
What time is it?

Miles takes out his phone to check the time.

MILES
Oh no. No. No. No. Shoot, I brought
us back too late.

The police car stops next to them. The window rolls down,
revealing Matt Rian.

MATT

time. We didn't realize it was
already past midnight.

NOAH
(Whispering to Miles)
Past Midnight! My parents are going
to kill me.

MATT
You boys should know better. Get in,

They enter the car and drive away.

EXT. THOMAS HOUSE - NIGHT

Cameron is standing on his front porch along with officer


Gladwin, who is speaking with his mom, who appears to have
been crying.

CASEY

He was in no danger, he told us he
was just biking home from a friends
house.

EXT. BRATTON HOUSE - NIGHT

Matt knocks on the front door. Noah's parents rush to the


door. They open the door and Suzanne swiftly embraces him
and begins sobbing.

MATT
He was fine, I found them both
walking down the street, they said
they just lost track of time and were
already headed back home.

INT. RIAN HOUSE - NIGHT

Miles enters the house and his mom runs up to him, embraces
him and begins crying.

MILES
I don't understand. What's the big

NORAH
What's the big deal? Really Miles?
You really don't remember?

MILES
Remember what?

NORAH
We were worried sick. After what
happened to the Westbrook kid last
week we didn't know what happened to
you.

MILES
Dylan? What do you mean? What
happened to him?

The house is dark. No one has come home yet.
