MY VIEW OF THE CITY

Every city is different from each other in respect to their architecture, heritage, culture, art,
population, education etc. Some cities have tall skyscrapers and some have high-rise buildings
or some having small structures which leads to the city skyline. Cities also known by its
infrastructure in transportations and their connection. Some cities are known for its business or
finance image or some known for tourism in respect to their heritage, culture, nature,
landscapes. In today’s time cities are having competition to be a tourist city in order to gain
popularity among tourist and to attract visitors, residents, and businesses, more and more cities
are profiling themselves as a Cultural city, an Entertainment city, or a Fantasy city which all
leads to gains their economy.

For a better city the city should have good open spaces which acts as lungs of the city like New
York ‘central park’ and also serves as a social gathering and events space for the people of the
city. A city should be planned in a way so that it doesn’t have lost spaces which leads to
criminal activities.

Delhi, which is the capital city of India, known for its central power which runs the city but
more than that it is known for its heritage. As it has many references to the history todays it
has many tangible heritage structures like Red fort, Humayun tomb, Qutub minar etc. which
makes it as a most visited place for the tourist. The old Delhi which is having crunch in space
having narrow roads and streets which leads to the traffic jams buts it forced people to imagine
the life and place of the Mughal time also because of the heritage structures in their vicinity
and other part of the city is the New Delhi which were planned radial by the Edward lutyens
having government buildings like Rashtrapati bhavan, Parliament etc. This part of the city has
wide roads, having greener footpaths. Delhi have four satellites town which helps to
decolonized Delhi population pressure like Noida, Gaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad.

Delhi has better connectivity in comparison to other cities of India, it has metro link and
electrical buses to all its areas and connected towards their satellites towns which helps to
reduce roads traffic and private transport which leads to reduce the air pollution. Delhi Is
planned in radial it has many centre pocket one of the centre is Cannaught place which is a
commercial hub and also a better and well known place for public gatherings and shopping.
