I walked into the shopping centre and my stomach started growling. It churned
nothing but gastric juices; I rubbed my belly in a circular motion. I was (1) _____________.
I scanned the area and felt lost due to the number of unfamiliar faces around me. The
screams and giggles of (2) _____________ young children and the loud chatter of eager
shoppers filled the air. It was half past six and I had not had my lunch yet. Suddenly, there
was a rich, creamy smell of butter and caramel lingering in the air. I did not know where it
was coming from the decided to walk ahead to find the source of the delicious and enduring
(3) _____________. The smell grew stronger with each step I took. The display lights on
the signboard caught my attention and the shop made me feel nostalgic. I stared hard at the
name of the shop – Jojo’s. My eyes brightened at the sight of the mountain of light brown
pieces before me. That wonderful smell was actually popcorn! I felt hungrier than ever and I
wanted to sink my teeth into the popcorn so badly.

The popcorn was placed in various sections according to its flavour. I peered over the
shoulders of the children standing in front of me – caramel, cheese, butter, chocolate, salty,

of just allowing it to melt in my mouth seemed divine. I swallowed hard and told myself that

“How long more will it take?” I thought to myself as I tapped my feet impatiently. “Three
more customers,” I muttered silently to myself, with anticipation written all over my face. I

“Hello, boy. How may I help you?” the cashier greeted me with great (7)

“Can I have both the caramel and cheese popcorn?” I replied with a broad smile, trying
to avoid sounding desperate.

The cashier, grabbed a paper bag and scooped the popcorn up, placing it delicately into

her hand.

“There you go! That would be fifteen dollars,” she said sweetly. I dug out my money,
handed it over and left the store speedily. I inspected the area around me and looked for a
place to sit. I opened the paper bag and the air around me was immediately filled with the
delicious smell of burnt sugar. The popcorn felt sticky. The (9) _____________ texture
made me want to savour it and wolf it down. I squealed in delight as I sank my teeth into the
