The city was built in 1520 AD


by Krishna Deva Raya, one of
the rulers of Vijayanagara.

The actual name Hosapete city


was Naagalapura. Hosapete

However, people referred to this


city as "Hosa Pete“ which meant
"New City" in Kannada
