The article “Public speaking is no longer a ‘soft skill’ by Carmine Gallow states that public

speaking should no longer be considered a soft skill (It should be considered just as important
as the ‘hard skills’). This made a lot of sense to me, especially the point about analogies, and it
showed some interesting statistics about it.

A good analogy makes something much more memorable, and most importantly,
understandable. The video used a great example of an engineer describing the newest intel
processor to Gallo, first saying a bunch of chinease that he failed to understand at all, and then
describing it as “Two brained.”, quickly helping him get the point. This very clearly demonstrates
the value of being able to clearly communicate ideas. With a clever analogy you can speak
miles more efficiently than without one. And these skills are in high demand.

The article stated that about one quarter of America's income came from soft skill
centred jobs. This is an insane amount of money, around 5 trillion dollars according to
http://datatopics.worldbank.org/world-development-indicators/, so these skills can clearly land
you a job. Not only this but the difference in income between someone who can and cant speak
is huge, a coder who cannot makes around 40,000 to 80,000 and a coder who can easily goes
for more than 120,000.

The article clearly made a point and I completely agree with it.
