A pirate comes ashore

Mississippi State fans react to Mike Leach hiring as head football coach

Mike Leach rings a cowbell for fans Thursday at George M. Bryan Airport in Starkville during a welcome ceremony for the newly-hired Mississippi
State head football coach. The pirate emblem on the bell is an ode to Leach’s love for pirate lore. Leach replaces Joe Moorhead, who was fired after
only two seasons leading the Bulldogs.

Doesn’t like ‘blue collar’ references in

Why do you refer to MSU as “blue collar?”
I believe that means factory workers. I can
assure you we have many who wear “white
collars,” professional people.
Maybe you should say “red neck,” refer-
ring to farmers who are in the sun, as we are
certainly more an agricultural school than one
who trains factory workers.
Otherwise, I enjoy your articles.
