Engaging, Enriching, and Empowering All Students through a World-Class Education December 18,2019 To Whom Ie May Concern: 1 1s my pleasure to wholeheartedly recommend Leia as a school counselor, Leia interned at New Hope-Solebury Lower and New Hope-Solebury Upper Elementary Schools nthe Fall of 2019. Atal times, Lela was punctual and conducted herself in a professional manmer, She came to us with experience from a previous internship and hit the ground running. She understood her role and was familiar with the ASCA model and ethical standards. Lela was warm and personable with children. They felt comfortable with her immediately. When counseling, she used empathy and great listening skills to determine the presenting concern and ‘work successfully with the stidents. She independently planned and conducted individval and group counseling interventions. Sheran social skills groups and conflict resolution meetings with students, While here, she also gained valuable experience working with students in crisis. She was able to assess potential danger to the student and others. She demonstrated maturity and level-headedness ‘when supporting students in crisis. She was eomfortable interacting with parents and had a firm “understanding of family dynamics to. During her Internship, Lela conducted and scored several assessments including the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test, Second Edition and the Behavioral Observation of Students n School (8.0.8). She participated in a Risk Assessment, She participated in a number of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (OTSS) meetings to support students with academic, emotional, and behavioral needs as well. Lela was also a valuable resource to teachers. She collaborated with teachers in all grade levels to ‘support student success, both in the classroom and in team meetings. She eveated ‘mindfulness guidance lessons in Kindergarten to meet the need of anxious students. She delivered ‘career and bullying prevention lessons in Upper Elementary classrooms too, Leia was always confident and eager totale on new challenges. She was very responsive to feedback and used ths Information to modify her practice. She readily asked questions when she needed more information or support.
