(b) In the given figure, the centre O of the small circle lies on the circumference of the
bigger circle. If ∠APB = 75° and ∠BCD = 40°, [4]
Find:
(i) ∠AOB
(ii) ∠ACB
(iii) ∠ABD
(iv) ∠ADB
(c) Find the sum of 25 terms of an AP in which the third term is 7 and the seventh
term is 2 more than thrice its third term. [3]
Question 2
(a) The expression (ax3 + bx2 – 5x +2a) is exactly divisible by (x2 - 3x – 2). Calculate
the value of a and b and factorize the expression completely. [4]
(b) A retailer buys an article, from a wholesaler, at a discount of 15% on the printed
price. He marks up its printed price by 10%. Due to competition in the market, he
allows a discount of 5% to the buyer. If the buyer pays Rs.6.771.60 for the article
inclusive of 8% VAT, find: [3]
(i) The original printed price of the article.
(ii) The profit percent of the retailer.
(iii) VAT paid by the retailer.

(b) Solve the following by using the formula and write the root correct to 3 significant

(c) Find the length of a canvas, 2 m in width, required to make a conical tent, 12 m in
diameter and 12.6 m in slant height. Also find the cost of canvas at a rate of Rs.12
per meter.

(a) In the given figure, O is the centre of circle with diameter AB. PT is a tangent of
the circle at point T. If chord CD = 7cm, DP = 9m and PB = 6cm, find the radius
of the circle and the length of tangent PT. [3]
(b) The following table gives marks obtained (out of 25) by students of a class. Find
the median and mode of the distribution. [3]

(a) The sum of first 3 terms of a GP is and their product is 1. Find the common ratio
and the first three terms. [3]
(b) A (5, - 2), B (6, 3), C (8, 5) are the vertices of the ΔABC. Find the equation of: [3]
(i) The median of the triangle through A.
(ii) The altitude of the triangle through B.
(c) P and Q are two points on the opposite side of a 90-meter-high tower AB. The
base B of the tower AB and points P and Q are along the same straight line. The
angles of depression of points P and Q as observed from top A of tower AB are
60° and 30° respectively. Find, correct to the nearest meter, the distance between
P and Q. [4]

(a) Construct an isosceles triangle ABC such that AB = 6 cm and BC = AC = 4 cm.
Bisect ∠ C internally and mark a point P on this bisector such that CP = 4.5 cm.
Find the points Q and R which are 4.5 cm from P and 4.5 cm from the line AB. [3]
(b) A man wants to buy 124 shares available at Rs.66 (par value Rs.50) [3]
(i) How much should he invest?
(ii) If the dividend is 7.5%, what will be his annual income?
(iii) If he wants to increase his income by Rs.600, how many extra shares should he
buy?
(c) A person bought a certain number of pens for Rs.800. If he had bought 4 pens
more for the same money, he would have paid Rs.10 less for each pen. How many
pens did he buy? [4]

(a) Without solving the equation, find the value of p, for which the equation
(𝑝 − 3)𝑥 − 2(𝑝 − 3)𝑥 + 2 = 0 has equal roots. Use the value of p and find the
roots of the equation. [4]
(c) Construct a Δ PQR in which PQ = 4.2 cm, QR = 6 cm, and median PM = 3 cm.
Construct an incircle. Measure and write the radius. [3]
