GRADE 7 - LESSON # 1 - RESPECT IS IMPORTANT
OBJECTIVES: Student will recite Ephesians 6:2,3
 Define Respect and explain why it is impt.
 Evaluate him/herself as to how respectful he/she
is and change areas where there is disrespectful
OPENING: Introduce yourself & assistants
ICE BREAKER: Respect in Filipino culture
Write on the board the titles we give to the members of
the family and the community – Tatay, nanay, ate, kuya,
titi , tita, manong, manang etc.
Being respectful is impt. Yet sometimes we
forget what it truly means, tell some other ways by which
we show respect.

INTRO TO THE LESSON:
A. How does it feel?- Share an experience of being
treated disrespectfully? Don’t mention a name
None of us enjoy being treated disrespectfully
and neither for others enjoy it when we treat
them disrespectfully.
Showing proper respect is a very basic and important
value to nurture in our lives. And we will be studying it
for a couple of weeks

DEFINITION OF RESPECT: RESPECT is honouring and
obeying older people and leaders. It is also treating
everyone fairly.
RESPECT INCLUDES:
 Showing regard and appreciation for the worth
of someone or something
 Caring for other living things and for the
environment that sustains life.
 Obeying the rules, laws and customs of your fa.
faith, community and country
 Honouring other peoples wants, needs, ideas,
rights, differences, beliefs, customs and heritage.
LESSON PROPER: Exploring the Respect Bible Verse
Ephesians 6:2,3
“Honour your father and mother – which is the first
commandment with a promise- that it may go well with
you and that you may enjoy long life”
HONOUR – is another word for respect. How can you
honour or respect your parents.
WHAT two promises does God make to those who obey
Him by honouring and respecting –(your life will go well
and be long)
APPLICATION: From the Lesson
Earlier you shared how you feel when others
treat you disrespectfully, Now I want to ask you if you’re
guilty of treating others disrespectfully
1. When your friends find it funny and cool to
disrespect the elderly, do you join them or do
you follow your inner “voice” and do otherwise?
2. Do you speak and act disrespectfully whe you are
defending your choice of activities? Do you say
hurtful things to your parents or elder?
