Chairperson Report: It was a quiet summer with little activity. The Lion’s
Club is trying to establish a club in Hanwell.

Minutes of March 23, 2009 were approved.

 Hanwell Local Service District – Advisory Committee
Minutes of Meeting
1. Signage – Nothing new to report. Action: Susan Cassidy and Carla
Ward will work on the proposal for acquisition of the signs.
2. Rural Plan – It has been reviewed and additional changes have been
made. It is supposed to be reprinted and there is to be a meeting of the
working group in the Fall. Action: Peter will send out a follow up
message and keep the LSADC informed.
3. Phone/Mail Messages – 4 messages- Susan and Carla will respond.
4. Rural Community Round Table – Next meeting is scheduled for
October 7th. They are working on a draft document – why se should
become a Rural Community – communiqué. Action: Peter Michaud
will keep the LSADC informed.
5. Recreation proposals – Brookdale Recreation Association has a new
Board - Nicole Perry and Louise Holt are the co-chairs. They have
indicated an interest in establishing an outdoor rink. It will be
necessary for them to submit a proposal for funding. Next year they
are going to have a T-Ball league as well as the Soccer league.
6. Web-site update – The service contract to update the site is $750.00
and there is a service fee of $25.00 per month for maintenance. The
continuing reminder to members to review their respective areas and
provide update to content.
7. Business Cards – Peter M delivered them. Action: Completed.
8. List of Businesses – The current list out there is out of date. We need
to come up with a strategy to collect names.
9. Newsletter – Topics for the newsletter:
 Community Development
 Lions Club
 List of Businesses
 Recreation Proposals
We need to contract the publishing and graphics for the newsletter.
The Publishing fee is approximately $300.00
10. Recreation Advisory Board – Holly has been appointed to the
Board. Peter M. attended an August 25th meeting for Holly. He
received a copy of the City of Fredericton Recreation Master Plan,
dated February 9, 2009.

New Business

1. Lion’s Club – Tony Hetherington is heading up an interest group to

see if support can be found for the establishment of a Hanwell club.
We will wait to see if there are any further developments.
