THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD

REV. JOEL PEREYRA FAMOSO

Servant of God
Romans 3: 1-31

1. God’s Faithfulness Romans 3:1-8

What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?

2 Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.

3 What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?

4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar. As it is written:

“So that you may be proved right when you speak

and prevail when you judge.”[a]

5 But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say?
That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)

6 Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world?

7 Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his
glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?”

8 Why not say—as some slanderously claim that we say—“Let us do evil that good may
result”? Their condemnation is just!

2. No One Is Righteous Romans 3:9 -19

9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already
made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin.

10 As it is written:

“There is no one righteous, not even one;

11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”[b]
13 “Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”[c]
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”[d]
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”[e]
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”[f]
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”[g]

19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that
every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law;
rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

3. Righteousness Through Faith

21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which
the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness is given through faith in[h] Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no
difference between Jew and Gentile,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,[i] through the shedding of his blood—
to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his
forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the
one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

27 Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires
works? No, because of the law that requires faith.
28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,
30 since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the
uncircumcised through that same faith.
31 Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

Introduction:
There Are 2 Figuration of Sin:
1. THE REALITY OF SIN
Romans Chapter 3

God seeks to make us aware of our greatest problem.

a) Through Disease
b) Through poverty
c) Through Destruction
Our Safety effort and Salvation effort
2. THE EFFECT OF SIN

1. Socially and spiritually ( Romans 1:18-32)

2. The coming judgement in view (Romans 2:5-16)

3. Not only Consequences here but Hereafter ( REV 20 )

The Judgment of Satan

7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go
out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to
gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They
marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the
city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil,
who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the
false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The Judgment of the Dead

11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the
heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead,
great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was
opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had
done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death
and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according
to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The
lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the
book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

There are Five Kinds of Judgement of God:

1. THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD IS ACCORDING TO TRUTH:

Romans 2:1 New International Version (NIV)
God’s Righteous Judgment
2 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever
point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do
the same things..

Roma 2:1 Magandang Balita Biblia (MBBTAG)

ganoon.

a) Perhaps the hardest thing to apply when judging

b) When judging loved ones, we are often partial
c) When judging ourselves we are often blind
Ephesians 5:29
New International Version (NIV)
29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body,
just as Christ does the church—

d) Pride Distorts the Picture

2. THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD IS ACCORDING TO ACCUMULATED WRATH

Romans 2:5
New International Version (NIV)
5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath
against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Roma 2:5
Magandang Balita Biblia (MBBTAG)
a) The privilege of laying up treasures in Heaven
b) The frightening thought of treasures up wrath
 By despising the riches of God’s goodness
 By rejecting the pleas of God to come to repentance

3. THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD IS ACCORDING TO WORKS

Romans 2:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”

a) Not salvation by works (Ephesians 2:8-9)

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves,
it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

b) God is just, right up to the minutest detail.

 According to works – Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing
before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the
book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in
the books.
 Degree of Punishment, not duration of punishment.
 Don’t misunderstand; no one saved but through Christ

4. THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD IS ACCORDING TO COMPLETE IMPARTIALITY

a) What a problem is this daily practice

b) The problem in the Church James 2:1-6
James 2:1-6 New International Version (NIV)

Favouritism Forbidden

2 My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show
favouritism. 2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine
clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. 3 If you show special
attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say
to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” 4 have you not
discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the
eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who
love him? 6 But you have dishonoured the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting
you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?

Santiago 2:1-6 Magandang Balita Biblia (MBBTAG)

5. THE JUDGEMENT OF GOD IS ACCORDING TO ALL THE FACTS

Romans 2:16 New International Version (NIV)
16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as
my gospel declares.

a) God shall judge the Secret of Men

b) Man’s heart is wicked
 Crime at Night
 Secret of thought and intent; Covetousness

Conclusion:
1. Summary and Application
2. How to Escape the Final Judgement of God ( John 5:24, Romans 8:1

John 5:24 New International Version (NIV)

24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and
will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

Juan 5:24 Magandang Balita Biblia (MBBTAG)

kamatayan.
Romans 8:1 New International Version (NIV)
Life Through the Spirit
8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Roma 8:1 Magandang Balita Biblia (MBBTAG)
