‘‘The Notebook’’
(Nicholas Sparks)

I. Introduction.

The novel that I pick/choose is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, it was

published in October, 1997. I choose this novel because it piques my interest of
reading a novel because I’ve been planning on reading a novel but can’t get
enough will and desire to read one and also I’m just bored. This novel is a love
story set in pre- and post- WWII. The main theme of the novel is ‘‘Love Conquers
all’’. Because throughout the novel, Noah Calhoun and Allie Nelson faces many
challenges before they could finally be together for good. They were able to
overcome all the difficulties that happened to them because of their love to each
other.
II. Summary.

The Notebook is about a man, Noah Calhoun who fall in love with a girl named
Allie Nelson and spend a wonderful summer together but Allie’s family and
Noah’s rank in life prevents them from being together, as they depart from each
other because Allie needs to go back to his parent’s place and also the place of his
fiancé Lon. Noah attempts to keep in contact after they are forced to separate, his
letter go unanswered and decided to write a one final letter. Noah travels in north
to find a stable job to escape the ghost of Allie, he worked for Goldman and as the
years go on, the company grew, and he was promoted. In December 1941, the war
began just as Goldman had predicted and Noah informed Goldman of his intent to
enlist. After five weeks Noah received a letter from Goldman with a certificate
entitling him to a small percentage of the scrap yard. After serving his country, he
returns home to restore an old farmhouse and make it one of the most beautiful
farmhouse in North Carolina. A newspaper article about his endeavour catches
Allie’s eyes, she was shock because she hasn’t seen Noah since 14 years ago.
Allies decides to go meet to where Noah is, and they are reunited, but Allie is
engaged to another man. After spending their wonderful reunion days together she
needs to decide who will he choose. Allie chooses Noah and they live together as
they get old but Allie suffer from Alzheimer’s and Noah keep on talking to her
telling some stories because he is hoping a miracle will happen that one day Allie
will remember him. One night as Noah reading his Notebook where all his poems
and letter for Allie is in there and he decided to go to Allie’s room once more and
as he go to Allie he reads his last letter to Allie and hug her and after that Allie
remember him and they copulate one more time.
III. Conclusion.

The conclusion of the story is that no matter what happens, no matter how the
world tries to separate them they will always find a way for them to be reunited
because their love for each other is strong enough to conquer everything.
IV. Reflection.

The novel is an amazing story of two people in love. The story shows us ups and
downs in life and also it shows us love, not a perfect love rather a true love. It is
an inspiring story because even if there a problem or challenges that we are facing
as long as you have LOVE we can do everything.
