 INTRODUCTION

Along with the development of the modern world, hand tools are becoming more and
more indispensable for people not only because of their compact design, combining many
useful features but also simple. to use. Understanding that importance, the industry of
hand tools is also growing to meet the needs of the times. From simple tools up to now,
people have combined techniques to create pneumatic and motorized tools. These tools
help to increase productivity and accuracy in work. However, the market for hand tools is
potentially a lot of inadequacies and challenges. Therefore, our group participated in the
"International Exhibition of Hardware and Hand Tools" - a gathering place of
international reputable international brands to learn about hand tools manufacturers in the
world. Understanding how they manufacture, distribute, penetrate the market as well as
participate in the global supply chain will be the basis for learning, researching and
seeking opportunities for Vietnam, enhance the competitiveness of domestic products on
the regional market and the world.

Vietnam International Trade Fair - VIETNAM EXPO is assigned by the Government

and assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Trade Promotion Department), in
coordination with ministries, branches and localities, trade promotion organizations and
Vinexad Company. held annually in Hanoi since 1991. Over 28 years, VIETNAM EXPO
has become one of the largest-scale trade promotion activities and has important
implications for the Industry and Trade of Vietnam when creating. "resonate" with
international friends and domestic businesses.

Vietnam Expo in Ho Chi Minh City Ho Chi Minh City is a large-scale trade fair in
Vietnam, an important destination, a trade bridge for Vietnamese and International
businesses to meet, exchange business cooperation, and promote development. trade and
investment.

The goal of the organizers (Vinexad) this year is based on two factors, one is to
gather prestigious international brands in order to promote the attractiveness of the
domestic market thereby attracting investment, technology transfer, Collaborating on
building global supply chain. The second is to create an environment for improving

domestic brands, helping to promote export development and stimulate the use of
domestic products.

Participating in the exhibition is an opportunity for the company to approach

Vietnamese and international manufacturers, businesses as well as to develop together in
the field of tools and machines.

The International Exhibition of Hardware & Hand Tools (HARDWARE & HAND
TOOLS EXPO) has been held in four consecutive years. The exhibition has the most
growth in scale and the most exciting transactions in the specialized exhibition chain. 400
booths (30% up compared to 2018) as the consequence of previous successful outcomes.
The Government has a long-term plan on developing the mechanics as foundation for
industrial development, in which the group of priority products will be mechanical
engineering, non-ferrous metals, spare parts, shipbuilding, new materials. The Hardware
& Hand Tools Expo is a good chance for accelerating further development of the
mechanical engineering industry in general and the competitiveness of local companies
demonstrating their inherent potentials. Top brands from Japan, Germany, Spain,
America, Europe, India, Taiwan, South Korea will be attractive for their qualities,
designs, features and durabilities. Hardware & Hand Tools 2019 received the registers of
more than 1,000 meet-ups in advance

The International Exhibition on Hardware & Hand Tools - Vietnam Hardware &
Hand Tools Expo is the first and only exhibition on hand tools & hardware in Vietnam.
As it supports the key industries, such as construction, automobile, road, shipbuilding,
aerospace, woodworking and retail to develop sustainably the exhibition is an absolute
must for professionals involved in tools, fasteners, DIY and building hardware, security,
locks and fittings. 250 enterprises from 20 different countries are supposed to present
their products to an audience of 6000 visitors. Seminars, business tours, presentations of
exhibitor groups as well as business matching programs are offered as well.

The exhibition emphasizes on 04 main sectors: Tools – DIY and Building Hardware
– Fasteners & Securities, Locks and Fittings. It will be an effective commercial
connection program to bridge the gap between sellers and buyers; to help buyers
cooperate more easily with sellers; to give buyers a chance to approach new technology,
new products; to seek ways in order to enhance production value, change opinions about
lifestyle and working methods. Moreover, it also provides an overview of the Vietnam
Hardware and Hand Tools industry for enterprises.

Wednesday, 04. December to Saturday, 07. December 2019 in Saigon Exhibition and
Convention Center (SECC), 799 Nguyen Van Linh, Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi
Minh City.

2. Vietnam hand power tools market

2.1 Introduction of hand tools
Along with the development of modern, hand tools have become indispensable items
in every household. With its compact design, incorporating many useful features yet
simple to use, hand tools have become familiar in the family work, and increasingly
improved maximum usability, especially shape. From the rudimentary instruments tools,
bulky, heavy, measuring, cutting, planing devices may be combined into a compact
product, which fits within the reach of the user.

 Hand tools are useful tools, in addition to supporting the work in mechanics and
manufacturing, but also help repair in daily life, our daily life is more convenient. All the
work of fixing screws is achieved in your family, it will be easy with hand tools.

2.2 Vietnam’s hand tools industry

Industrial Revolution 4.0 (Industry 4.0) and global supply chain are the key concepts
that are mentioned in the development model of mechanical engineering today. In
particular, downstream industry including home appliances and tools is a large segment
including: Tools in the electricity - pneumatic - maintenance, repair - grinding - polishing
materials - cutting - solder; metal construction and DIY; production equipment and
machinery; reinforced components such as bolts and screws of all kinds - rivets,
mechanical springs ... It is also the main category of products presented at Hardware &
Hand Toosl Expo 2019.

After participating in the exhibition, the group realized that currently there are many
different brands of hand tools in the Vietnamese market, each with its own unique
advantages and appropriate to each public purpose job. In particular, Hanoi and Saigon
are two big exciting markets with the hand tools business of big brands with many
construction projects growing.

 However, Vietnam's hand tools industry is still growing slowly, even lagging behind
other countries in the region, affecting productivity, quality and efficiency of the
economy. The industry has not had appropriate measures to protect and exploit the
domestic market. In addition, the level of production and business management of
Vietnamese enterprises is still low, not many enterprises reach the level of production and
business management near the 3rd industrial revolution period and very far from the 4th
industrial revolution. Besides, the investment in technological innovation of duplication,
dispersion, causing great waste and ineffective production and business ...

2.3 Market evaluation of portable power tools in Vietnam

The market for portable power tools in Vietnam in recent years has been quite
exciting as the price competition among brands of tools and supplies has become
increasingly fierce. With many brands providing power tools in the Vietnamese market
from high-end to mid-range, low-cost products, users can easily choose for construction
works, industrial zones of digital machinery. large amounts. Currently on the market,
brands providing high-class power tools, good product quality and durability include:
Bosch - Germany, Hikoki - Japan, Keyang - Korea, Dewalt - USA, Ferm - Netherlands,
VAC - China ... however the price is quite high compared to the market price.
Meanwhile, the product lines from China always have attractive prices although the
quality is not appreciated, low durability, does not guarantee a safe level when used. This
explains why the high-end product lines have had a large consumption market in recent
years.

According to the statistics of the third quarter of 2019 on the Vietnamese market,
more than 60% of products and supplies originated from China, including famous brands
such as Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, Keyang, Ferm, Hikoki, VAC. ... so users should be
cautious when choosing to order cheap power tools at small supply stores. Especially,
one of the issues that is not new but has a significant impact on the reputation of these
brands is the fact that counterfeit goods are widely sold in the market without current
control.

imported from countries: Germany, Japan, China, Korea, USA, …

 CONCLUSION
The Hardware & Hand Tools Expo is a ripe time for further speeding up the
development of the mechanical engineering industry in general and increasing the
competitiveness of domestic enterprises, showing their inherent potential. The top brands
in the group of hand tools & power tools from Japan, Germany, Spain, USA, Europe,
India, Taiwan, South Korea, ... will be brands attracted by the quality. Quality, style,
features, durability.

Although this industry is quite new to Vietnamese businesses, it is hoped that the
exhibition will be an effective trade channel for buyers to easily find and exchange
cooperation with sellers, have opportunities to access. directly with new technologies and
products, and help the participating businesses have an overview of the Vietnam
