CHAPTER 4

RESULTS DISCUSSION

This chapter presents the data analysis and discussion of results. The themes identified

within the data include: (a) students opinion, if prostitution should be legalized (b) If prostitution

could ever be considered as a job option and why, (c) what comes to a students mind when they

hear the term human trafficking (d) and their opinion if prostitution is against human rights.

Students opinion if prostitution should be legalized even though there is a law that states

that prostitution is very much illegal that states that the policy briefly provides the rationale for

amending Articles 202 and 341 of the Revised Penal Code on Prostitution and White Slave

Trade. It also presents recommendations on how to address the system of prostitution in the

Philippines by providing legal protection and support services for its victims and shifting the

criminal liability to those who exploit people in prostitution.

Most of the students had pretty similar answers for the first question in which we asked.

In their opinion, should prostitution be legalized? And to explain why, based on our 1st

respondent “No, because it is against human rights” Interpreting his answer We can see that he

was mostly basing it on the law. When we asked the 2nd question which was if prostitution could

ever be considered as a job option he said that “Maybe if it is a private matter, it could be

possible but they must observe proper conduct, such as keeping the crime confidential because it

is not right to the people if you deprive them of their lives so it is also considered that he or she

must uphold a jew process” we understood that he mostly took the basis from the process from

the government. To enlighten, others did say that it also could become an option in other

circumstances. When we asked our 3rd question which was what comes to mind when you hear
the term human trafficking in which he stated that “Human Trafficking, it is an absurd idea in

which people are held or captive or may be forced to do such acts that are not clicking with their

conscience.” Based on his answer it is what most HUMSS students would answer based on the

other HUMSS student we also interviewed further on. Finally asking our 4th and the last

question Is prostitution against human rights? He answered with “Yes, it is against human rights

because it violates your privacy and some people who are doing human trafficking are

sometimes are abused and if they do not want it people force them and they threaten them and

sometimes they go as far as to kill these kinds of people.” We could tell that his answers were

based mostly on the law and as a HUMSS student, it cannot be helped if some answers are a bit

on the jurisprudence side, because HUMSS students are in the possible lines to become lawyers,

politicians or any worker for the government.

Based on our second respondent from Grade 12 Humss 1 we asked his opinion on should

prostitution be legalized? And to explain why, “First, of course it can’t be legalized dahil kapag

elegalized mo ang prostitution you are actually violating, di yung pinaka mismong foundation ng

rights ng mga babae dito sa Pilipinas noh?, atsaka aside from that ang bansa kasi naten is very

conservative, conservatism an gating ideas, dun palang na vi-violent nyo na ang mismong ideas

ng bansa natin if you going na legalized at the same time marami pwedeng siya ma direct ng mas

maraming pang problema, specifically, dun sa health issues lalo’t na yung mga sexually

transmitted diseases and at the same ung magiging image ng Pilipinas ay magiging negative sa

ibang bansa.” Based on his answer, If prostitution was legal the image of our country can be

negative other country. ” When we asked the 2nd question which was if prostitution could ever

be considered as a job option he said that “No, I do not consider Prostitution, kasi nga una sa

lahat gaya ng sinabi ko kanina magiging slash sya dun sa ideas marami naman pwedeng
alternatives na napakadaming trabaho and of course the government is best to provides job for

the people ito yung pinaka purposes ng government to provide for the people, to make the in

good hands, ngayon if you going to let people think na prostitution is a decent job or job option

technically you as a government you’re not doing your best you’re doing a job, So we cannot

consider a Prostitution is decent Job kasi hindi sya tama.” Based on his answer Prostitution is not

consider a job option because he says theres an alternative ways to find a good job to not being a

prostitute, to solve a problem. When we asked our 3rd question which was what comes to mind

when you hear the term human trafficking in which he stated that “Human Trafficking, it is an

absurd idea in which people are held or captive or may be forced to do such acts that are not

clicking with their conscience.” Based on his answer “Human Trafficking, actually unang

maiisip ko dyan is siguro yung illegal detention na lang pa, illegal detention in which kasi kapag

ikaw ma-eexposed, isang example nalang, halimbawa ikaw ung magulang tapos ikaw yung anak

minamarket mo sa cybersex is kind of that business na medyo na hindi naman katanggap tanggap

is actually an exampleof human trafficking eh, una sa lahat against sya sa law natin, we have this

anti cybercrime law of the Philippines is against of constitution because of their dignity and

rights, Di naman pwede siguro tanggalan mo ang isang tao, According to Article Sec. 01 ng 1987

constitution that every is entitled for a human rights and of course the life liberty ang kalayaan,

Human trafficking kasi parang dini detain mo eh di naman sa dinedetain, di naman sa physically

pati ung kanyang dignidad as a person.” He said
