Content is what the lesson is all about. It pertains to the subject matter that the teacher aims to teach in the CG, the content can be tackled in a
week or two.

III. LEARNING RESOURCES List the materials to be used in different days. Varied sources of materials sustain children’s interest in the lesson and in learning. Ensure that there
is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials. Hands-on learning promotes concept development.

IV. PROCEDURES These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by
demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing
students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they
learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge, indicate the time allotment for each step.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity The learners will be given an untitled story. They will be tasked to underline the
statement/s that represents a trend.
Once upon a time, in a far away land, there lived a maiden who must not be named. The maiden
lived a solitary life, spending her time in the company of her garden, livestock and kitchen. Despite

Years, of doing this made the maiden very fat, to the point of being obese. Now unable to tend to
her garden and livestock because she cannot work anymore like she used to, the maiden resorted
to watching television and surfing the internet for weight-loss methods. Television shopping
prescribed belts that melt fats, abs crunchers, and the lie, while the internet informed her of the
existence of slimming pills that guarantee results in just one week.
Desiring to be back on the way she looks, the maiden bought all that was mentioned, while still
maintaining her regular food intake. A month later, she did not lose weight- worse; she gained
more.
The maiden felt helpless and hopeless, until a runner passed by her house. The maiden spilled to
the runner all her troubles and worries, and the runner left only one piece of advice: Have a proper
diet and do regular exercises. That is all you need.”
Enlivened with what the runner told her, the maiden started having a proper diet and regular
exercise. A month after, there was gradual difference in how she looked like and how she felt about
herself and her body. She continued doing what was advised.
2. Analysis From the story, students will answer the following questions:
1. What would be the end of the story?
2. What are trends in the given story?
3. What did you consider in indentifying trends?
3. Abstraction Trend is a gradual change or development that produces a particular result. The following
are the words which describe what a trend is:
Trend towards/to
Trend in
An upward/downward trend
Follow trend
Buck a trend
FAD is any form of behavior that is intensely followed by a population for a short period
of time. The behavior will rise relatively quickly and fall relatively quickly once the
perception of novelty is gone.
- It is an intense but short-lived fashion/event. It is a temporary fashion, a craze,
interest or activity that people follow enthusiastically, but lasts for a short period
of time.
To determine if the students can fully identify trends from fads, the teacher will let the
students to try the following exercise:
Identifying Trends and Fads

write your prediction on the third column.

1. EASY – Trends do not require many adjustments on the part of subscribers, In fact,
trends are smooth and straightforward to follow.
2. CONSISTENT- Trends generate uniform and tangible results. Unlike fads which
claim to deliver results in he often-unrealistic timeframe, trends are steady and
dependable.
3. SUSTAINABLE – Trends exist and can be maintained for a long time. Unlike fads
which are brief and fleeting, trends are for the long-term.
To further enhance the learning of students in terms of trends and fads, the following
exercise will be given by the teacher: The learners will be divide into four groups, each
group will be given images from which they will categorize if it is a trend or fad. Answers
will be posted in area on the board provided for each group.

The difference is that trends have a much longer life span than fads. Trends can be in style for
many years. They rise in popularity slowly. Fads come and go quickly. They are short lived.
Think ‘pet rock’ and ‘mood rings.’ Usually fads are things everyone is talking about. They get
super hot real fast, and fizzle away just as fast. I think of shag carpet as an example of a fad.
And this was an expensive fad! Most people can’t afford to make a mistake on that scale.
Fads come fast and fade away
A fad is any form of behavior that is intensely followed by a population for a short
period of time. The behavior will rise relatively quickly and fall relatively quickly once
the perception of novelty is gone.
There are some great fads out there! Collecting beanie babies was a fad, so were
pet rocks, sending spam, #followfriday, Ouiji boards, troll dolls, water beds…the list
goes on. We can thank fads for basically everything that we wore in the 80’s (or
90’s, or 2000’s…) And there are a lot of fads going on right now that may bring us a
laugh twenty years from now.
Fads certainly have value and they can profoundly change organizations- consider
the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge! Utilizing fads in marketing and programs can
increase top-of-mind awareness, demonstrate the timeliness of your
organization, and serve as a gateway for new audiences.
This is all great and important stuff but- remember – fads don’t stick around.
solve a problem for people. In the words of the forever-awesome Seth Godin, “A
trend gains power over time, because it’s not merely part of a moment, it’s a tool, a
connector that will become more valuable as other people commit to engaging in it.”
The increasing use of social networks is a trend (that connects us to one another).
So is quitting smoking (which lengthens our lives), evidence-based medicine (that
removes the guesswork in medical-related situations), and the use of mobile devices
(that allow us to look up information in real time). These are things that have grown
– and continue to grow – in market penetration. They solve problems. They
represent new ways of life.
Organizations ignore trends at their own risk. Ignoring trends means that they
will either be forced to adapt later and will necessarily be behind, or the organization
will fade away.
