Lesson Plan 1.

Unit 1 : Energy in Society

Topic Title: Introduction to Physics and Technology
Time Frame: 1 day

I - OBJECTIVES

General Objectives:
1. Cite the role of energy in the development of human society from the industrial
age to the knowledge-based society.
2. Trace the development of technology in the country and relate it to international
and worldwide developments.
3. State some worldwide developments in Physics that had implications to society
and had changed humanity’s thinking about nature.

Specific Objectives:
1. Describe applications / uses of Physics and Technology in their daily life.

II – SUBJECT MATTER

A. Lesson Title: Physics Around me

B. Materials:
Drawing paper / Manila paper
Drawing pens / Pentel pen

III – LEARNING ACTIVITIES

A. Review
1. Remind students of task (extension to their problem solving activity).
2. Ask them to recall what they have learned about the problem solving process
they have undergone yesterday. Relate it with what scientists do.

B. Motivation:
How is Physics important to my life? What is its role in society? What
improvements has it contributed to me and the Filipino society?

C. Lesson/Activity Proper
1. Call on students to write on the board (preferably on a manila paper so you
can keep their responses and post them later) their answers to the assigned task.
2. After all the responses have been posted, show the schema of the new Physics
and Technology Curriculum. (see Teachers Notes)
3. Tell students that some of their questions may be addressed as contexts for the
lessons they will be taking up in the course.

D. Generalization
1. Physics is an integral part of our lives. It is a way of thinking, a humanistic
enterprise or can be a search for order in many areas of nature.
2. Energy is the linking pattern in the development of technology.
3. Developments in technology entail benefits and risks.

IV – ASSESSMENT

Direction: Draw a poster /write an essay / create a jingle or short song on the theme:
“Physics and Technology: Its relevance to me, the society and the future”

V – ASSIGNMENT

Instruction: Group students for the next assignment

Direction: The Class will start creating a TIMELINE of Events /Inventions and People
in Physics. To do this, you will be assigned to a time frame as follows:

Group 1 – 1st to 3rd centuries

Group 2 – 4th to 6th centuries
Group 3 – 7th to 9th centuries
Group 4 – 10th to 12th centuries
Group 5 – 13th to 15th centuries
Group 6 – 16th to 18th centuries
Group 7 – 19th century
Group 8 – 20th century
Group 9 – 21st century
