I. Area
Ambassador is a barangay in the municipality of Tublay, in the province of Benguet,
Philippines. Tublay is one of the thirteen municipalities comprising the Province of
Benguet. Its is politically subdivided in eight barangays but Ambassador is the most
largest barangay in terms of land area from the rest of the seven barangays .
a.Where:
Ambassador is located in the municipality of Tublay,in the province of Benguet,
Cordillera Administrative Region(CAR),Philippines. The coordinates of approximately
16.4947, 120.6709.
b. Population:
The population of Ambassador grew from 3,005 in 1990 to 5,160 in 2015, an increase of
2,155 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth rate or an
increase of people, from the previous population of in 2010.
There are three major ethnolinguistic groups in the municipality. These are the
Kankana-eys, Ibalois, and Kalanguyas. And due to intermarriages, there are other
dialects spoken like Ilokano, Tagalog, Bisaya, and other dialects of Cordilleras.
c. Topography
Ambassador is a generally hilly and mountainous, and is situated at approximately
16.4947, 120.6709, in the island of Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at
1,665.1 meters or 5,462.9 feet above mean sea level.

II.History
According to DOST regional director Julius Cesar Sicat, Tublay is one of the 13 towns in
Benguet that is prone to landslide. One barangay in particular is Barangay
Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet wherein occurrence of landslides were recorded.
The following are the occurrence of landslide in the area:
On October 8, 2009, a landslide incident were recorded in Garcia Village in Sitio Sto.
Niño, Barangay Ambassador, Tublay wherein 5 persons were killed after a landslide hit
their house. The fatalities were identified as Deborah Boyayao, Milenya Supla, Shandell
Boyayao, Rita Nalog, and Jerry Boyayao. The landslide incident was due to heavy
and continuous rains from tropical depression “Pepeng.”
Local authorities have temporarily closed a portion of a national highway in Tublay
town in Benguet to motorists due to a landslide that hit the area on Friday night of
August 4, 2017. The said landslide is due to heavy rain. Rain-soaked soil, rocks, and
boulders covered a road section at Km. 15 Ambassador following intermittent
downpour.
On or about 3:00 PM, 26 August 2018, a landslide incident occurred in Sitio Ullman,
Coros, Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet which totally damaged one house by the said
incident. No casualties were reported. The landslide is due to scattered rains and
thunderstorms. Unfortunately, we didn’t find images of the occurrence of the
landslide.

Local government officials and members of Tublay police worked and leared the
highway.
III.Map

The map shows that the area of Ambassador, Tublay is with high landslide susceptibility
rating therefore it is prone to landslides and have active or recent landslides and
tension cracks that would affect the community. While, moderate susceptibility rating
inactive/old landslides and tension cracks which are located away the community.
