Insulation of pipework

Climpipe Section Alu2

Designed to provide thermal and acoustic insulation of pipework, it
helps to meet thermal building regulations and offer energy savings. The
consistent density and concentric positioning of the bore of Climpipe
sections provide consistent thermal performance along the length of
the pipe. Isover offers a range of pipe sections in a variety of thicknesses
(20-60mm) and diameters from 15 to 273mm to accommodate a range
of pipe diameters.

Climpipe Sections are strong, lightweight pre-formed ‘snap on’ sections

with a reinforced aluminium foil facing and a self-adhesive overlap
to help ensure a strong vapour barrier. Manufactured in 1.2m lengths,
these sections offer the opportunity for fewer joints than traditional 1m
products, helping to reduce thermal bridging.

Characteristic Description
Fire performance • Euroclass A2L-s1, d0 fire rating when classified with EN 13501-1
• Class O compliance as defined in Building Regulations.
• Compliant with London Underground fire safety performance requirements.
Service temperature Suitable for continuous service temperatures from 5°C to 500°C. The temperature on
the aluminium facing should not exceed 80°C. When using the product below ambient
conditions, care must be taken to ensure a 100% vapour barrier is maintained.
Corrosiveness Fulfils the demands in ASTM C795-08 (Standard Specification for Thermal Insulation for
Use in Contact with Austenitic Stainless Steel) section 13

The thicknesses shown in the following tables are calculated at the maximum thermal
conductivities of the material as required in the above British Standards. These thermal
conductivity figures must not be exceeded by unapproved substitute materials. In such
a case, the following thicknesses could be invalid and the installation may not comply
with the legal requirements of the Building Regulations.

Wired Mats provide optimal thermal insulation, reaching
highest levels of thermal performance at continuous
temperatures of up to 620°C, even under tough
conditions e.g. mechanical stress such as vibrations.

U TECH Wired Mats are the logical choice for optimal

thermal efficiency by reducing heat loss and CO2
emissions and high thermal performance with thinner
constructions in areas with space restrictions.

Features Benefits

Excellent thermal insulation. • Offers energy savings with the same thickness compared
to traditional stone wool solutions.
• Option to reduce insulation thickness and number of
layers without comprising on performance.
• Helps to meet personnel protection requirements.

Lighter than traditional stone wool solutions. • Fast and efficient installation through improved
product handling, especially when working at height.
• Easy and quick to cut. Ideal for passing fixings through
when applying coverings.
• Less stress on supporting infrastructure.

Euroclass A1 fire rating when classified with BS EN 13501-1. Non-combustible.

Acoustic performance. Helps to control plant noise and improve acoustic comfort
for plant personnel.

Improved logistics. • More product per roll.

• Easy to split packaging with carry handles aids

Industrial large diameter pipes

U TECH Pipe Section Mat (PSM)

U TECH PSM MT 7.0 G1 is the efficient solution to
insulate industrial pipes with external diameters
greater than 324mm. It provides excellent thermal
insulation, reaching the highest levels of thermal
performance at continuous temperatures of up to
620°C. The length and the V-Grooves of the U TECH
PSM MT 7.0 G1 are adapted to the final diameter
and thickness of pipe section insulation, leaving no
thermal bridges once installed.

A glass woven fabric facing helps strengthen the

product both during and after installation and with
its width of 625mm and weight of max 16kg, it can
be easily installed by 1 person. Unlike traditional
stone wool solutions where up to three pieces (three
joints) are used for a single large diameter pipe,
U TECH PSM MT 7.0 G1 is made from a continuous
piece of insulation ensuring only one joint is needed U TECH PSM Alternative stone
