Maintenance Trolley
Macmet also provides self-propelled Maintenance Trolleys for easy and safe servicing of long overland conveyors and
pipe conveyors.

The trolley runs along tracks mounted on top of the conveyor structure, equipped for day/night operations. The Trolleys
are designed to allow complete access to the conveyor structure and conveyor components.

A terminal station at each end of the conveyor allows for parking, loading and unloading of personnel & equipment for
maintenance. The trolley is controlled by an operator console / dash panel.

A diesel generator set is provided on the trolley to meet the requirement for operation of welding set, grinding wheel,
maintenance equipment, lighting and auxiliary power.
Special Projects
Over the years, Macmet has executed several special turnkey projects in various Steel Plants and Wheel & Axle
Plants. Macmet’s comprehensive in-house resources and expertise gives the company the capability to set up
highly sophisticated equipment of large capacities. Experienced site engineers and erection crews handle critical
equipment to ensure satisfactory performance and delivery.

Some of the significant projects have been:

Automatic Wheel Testing Facility for cast wheel finishing shop at Yelahanka, consisting of Apex Grinder, Gravity
Rail Conveyors, Escapements, Turntables with testing centres for magnetic crack detection, Ultrasonic testing,
Brinell Hardness testing, Laser Beam type warpage testing and Wheel Tread Diameter measurement. Similar
projects were also executed at the Wheel and Axle Plant at Durgapur Steel Plant and Railway Wheel Factory at
Chapra.

Supplied on a turnkey basis a Cold and Hot Scarfing Machine in technical collaboration with L-Tec Welding and
Cutting System, USA, to Bokaro Steel Plant. The scarfing machine operates at a slab temperature ranging from
20°C to 1100°C. The work included civil and structural engineering work involving dismantling of existing
structure and re-building the same for the scarfing machine.
Special Projects
Designed, manufactured, erected and commissioned in association with Messo (Germany) - equipment
supplied by Matsuzaka Co. Ltd. (Japan) - a 60T Vacuum Arc Degassing & Refining (VADR) Unit and a 60T
Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization and Refining (VODR) Unit to Durgapur Alloy Steel Plant.

Designed, manufactured, erected and commissioned six Ferro Alloy Handling units for Duragpur Alloy Steel
Plant. The systems included bunkers, chutes, necessary platforms and structures, along with bottom discharge
buckets and motorized rack and pinion gates.

Erection, Testing, Startup & Commissioning of 7 m tall Coke Over Battery and Coke Dry Cooling Plant of the
Battery Complex, including application of Refractory and Insulation, for Visakhapatnam Steel Project.

Supply of imported Lime Fines Briquetting Facilities and design, erection and commissioning of entire plant for
the system at Bokaro Steel Plant.

Design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of Slow Mills (Ball Mills) suitable for grinding

to 219.1 mm, are manufactured by MACMET.

Idlers are made from black tubes conforming to


IS:9295. The bearing housings are made out of deep
drawn quality steel sheets. The pressed steel bearing
housings are simultaneously welded on both sides of
the tube to form a mono block construction.

The idler spindles are made from EN-8/C-40 materials


and are precision machined.

Pulleys
MACMET pulleys are time tested drive components
for all types of belt conveyor systems. They are safe,
robust and reliable with long service life. Basic pulley
diameters are 250, 315, 400, 500, 630, 800, 1000,
1250, 1400 & 1600 mm.

The pulleys, unless otherwise agreed with the


customer, are rolled and fabricated from low carbon
steel plates with end/centre disc welded to the shell.
For specific requirements and applications, turbo
diaphragm type cast steel end discs are also used. All
pulley shafts are made from C-40/EN-8 grade steel.

The pulley shaft is generally keyed with the hub.


Pulleys with tapered locking assembly arrangement
are also made for special applications.
