I am writing to recommend Melissa Mielko for a teaching position in your district. I have
had the pleasure of working closely with Melissa, since she joined our Fourth Grade
team in September, and have been continually impressed with her knowledge of
pedagogy and her ability to deliver high quality instruction.

As a novice teacher, Melissa has demonstrated extreme skill with implementing our
Language Arts and Social Studies curricula and school and district initiatives. She
works diligently to create rigorous, high-quality lessons and resources that are aligned
to the standards and engage her students. She is always eager to incorporate
newly-learned strategies into her instruction to add to her repertoire of skills. Her
commitment to lifelong learning is admirable.

Melissa has a great rapport with her students. In addition to her enthusiasm and
positive classroom environment, she knows her students’ needs. Melissa utilizes
formative and summative assessments to drive her whole group and small group
instruction. She administers diagnostic and benchmark reading assessments to
prescribe Guided Reading lessons and monitor student progress. Through
differentiated instruction, Melissa empowers her students.

At grade-level content meetings, Melissa is always an active participant. She

collaborates with colleagues and administration by sharing resources, ideas, and
reflections. Her contributions are valued by the team.

I highly recommend Melissa for a teaching position in your district. She has been an
