DISCIPLINES AND IDEAS IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

GENERAL DIRECTIONS.

Prepare the following performance/product tasks. Upload your files in the official Google Drive.

1. Read and study about the different social science disciplines. Create an infographic that
introduces the each of the social science disciplines according to: (1) main areas of inquiry,
(2) sub-fields, (3) methods of study, and (4) careers in the field. You must create one (1)
infographic for each of the following:

a. Anthropology

b. Economics

c. Geography

d. Sociology

e. Political Science

f. Linguistics

g. Psychology

h. Demography

i. History

2. Create a PowerPoint Presentation explaining each of the approaches in the social sciences,
contrasting their key concepts and approaches, and evaluating the strengths and weaknesses
of each approach. You should create one (1) PowerPoint file with a maximum of five (5) slides
(Title, Historical Background, Key Concepts, Strengths, and Weaknesses) for each of the
following approach:

a. Structural Functionalism

b. Social Conflict Theory

c. Symbolic Interactionism

d. Psychoanalysis

e. Rational Choice Theory

f. Feminism

g. Hermeneutic Phenomenology

h. Institutionalism

i. Human Environment Systems

3. Examine the social ideas of Jose Rizal by creating an essay about his work “To The Young
Women of Malolos.” The 1,000 word essay should talk about his views about Nationalism and
the importance of being a Filipino.

4. Conduct a video interview with five (5) old people in your community about the different
Filipino Social Values in the past and why these values are important to the future generations
of Filipinos.
