Research design
The researchers will use a qualitative approach and also using a ground theory research design in
getting the perceptions of grade 11 stem students about inadequate computer laboratories.
Qualitative approach was proven to be the most accepted to the given study because the
researcher will not use any numerical way to interpret or to show the answers of their
respondents, it is only be in narrative and tend more explanatory, it can’t be in a graph form or
numerical way. According to Crossman (2019) Qualitative research is a type of social science
research that collects and works with non-numerical data and that seeks to interpret meaning
from these data that help understand social life through the study of targeted populations or
places. By using a qualitative researcher methodology, researchers want to collect richer
information and get more detailed picture of issues, cases or events (Arora and Stoner 2009).
This research will follow to a ground theory research design. According to the authors, Glaser
and Strauss(1968), cited by Ahiazu (2010), it is a research process of theoretical sampling in
which the researcher collects, codes and analyses his data and decided what data to collect next
and where to find them, in order to develop his theory as it emerges. This approach sensitizes the
research to particular area of study rather than providing specific hypotheses. The underlying
principle of this approach is that the needed answers to the problem being investigated are
grounded in the data collected.
Data analysis
This present study will us content and discourse as data analysis to analyse and understand the
data. Content analysis will be using because the researchers to make valid inferences from text
and to obtain a documentary evidences. Also to determine certain words within texts or sets of
texts. The researchers will also using the discourse analysis to study and examined the
conversation made through interview, this aims to trace some of the threads that connect that text
to others.
Research Instrument
In this study, the instrument for data gathering is an interview specifically the structure interview.
The researchers chose the interview so that the respondents will have a more comprehensive
view and in-depth answers to all the questionnaire that will the researchers will be given to also
give them time to have a wide thinking about what will they answer to the questions in the
questionnaire.
Data gathering procedure
First the researchers will allot of time for them to make the questionnaires and also considering
here the researchers time, the weather, and their convenience. Next, after the interview was done
all the data that has been gathered will be observed, analyse and also it will be compare to the
other respondents answers. Then the researchers will gonna look for the related literature for the
additional informations, to make it reliable and to give support from their answers. Finally after
the evaluation the researchers now can do or develop a proper conclusion to the study.
